Homer Taft Sibley, whose death is noted in the In Memoriam columns of this issue, is described as one of the best-loved and most interesting figures in his community. Born in Newport, N. H., he lived there throughout his life. He had planned on a teaching career for which he seemed to be ideally equipped by temperament and training. For a period he undertook business responsibilities as president of the Sibley Scythe Company, founded by his grandfather, and as a director of the First National Bank and the Brompton Woolen Company. His real interests seem to have been centered in flowers, literary pursuits, music, community affairs and his church, which he served as organist and choir director. George Liscomb represented '07 at the services.
The death of Jonathan Piper at his home in Concord, N. H., on August 21, is reported in the In Memoriam columns of this same issue. He died suddenly, after a full day at his law office and evening gardening at home. He had had a heart disability for some years and had carried on under appropriate restrictions, in spite of which he had apparently led a reasonably normal family and professional life. Classmates Pelren, Wood-worth and Ahem attended the service at St. Paul's Church which was conducted by Bishop John Dallas, formerly Rector of the Episcopal Church in Hanover.
Mrs. Lallie Lee Kennedy, the widow of Walter G. Kennedy, died in London, England, on July 12, at the home of her daughter.
Ben and Mrs. Washburn, Ed and Mrs. Ashley and Jack Stilphen were Hanover visitors during the summer.
These '07 regulars enjoyed '07's informal 44th Reunion in June: Pierce, Plummer,Southgate, Coburn, Stevens, Smart, Lane, BillSanborn and the Grebensteins, Kenyons, Hammonds and Liscombs.
An '07 dinner will be held at the University Club, Boston, on October 26, the eve of the Dartmouth-Harvard football game. Out-of-town classmates are urged to participate. There will, no doubt, be discussions of plans for our 45th Reunion.
Congratulations to Phil Chase and his assistant Alumni Fund agents for the fine '07 contribution to the Fund.
