The Boston Traveler of August 11 reported the death that day in Salem, Massachusetts, of Dr. Henry G. Carroll, 64, widely known for 37 years as a Salem and Boston eye and ear specialist. A native of Peabody, Dr. Car- roll was graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1907 and later studied at Carney Hospital, South Boston. He was on the staff of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary 20 years and also was a staff physician at Salem and Beverly hospitals. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Massa- chusetts Medical Society, the American Col- lege of Surgeons and the New England Oph- thalmological Society. Besides his widow Dr. Carroll left two sons, William W. and Rich- ard S. and a daughter Joan E., all of Salem, and a sister, Sister Margaret Carmelita of the Notre Dame order at Watsonville, Calif.

A letter from Dick Southgate is always wel- come because it usually contains some news items sure to be of interest to the Secretary's "avid" readers. Recently Dick wrote, "Here's a real 'O7 news item—just said good bye to Bob Lane and his wife Betty after a very pleasant visit here for a couple of days. He hasn't changed much in appearance—hasn't put on a lot of weight—hair almost white but appears to have kept more of it than most of us. Bob has a fine family—two sons and two daughters, all married, and seven grandchil- dren, I believe. He is with a savings bank in Portland."

Dick also reports a high honor for our class- mate Rip Heneage. "Rip, as you know," says Dick, "has sold several building lots in his Balch Hill property and several new houses are going up. They are extending the drive- way and making a new street which has been officially named "Rip Road!"

Recent visitors to Hanover included Todand Mrs. Plummer, Dr. and Mrs. Tom Reilly,Phil and Mrs. Chase, and Herb and Mrs.Mitchell.

George H. Howard, member of the law firm of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett, New York, has been awarded membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Associates. Congratulations, George!

The marriage of Miss Deborah Woodworth, daughter of Charlie and Mrs. Woodworth, to Mr. David Leßoy Edgar, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edgar of Hewlett, L. 1., N. Y., took place at St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, Rye Beach, N. H., on Saturday, September 11. The bride was given in marriage by her father and at- tended by her sister, Miss Sally Woodworth.

Harry Kelly writes from Omaha, after his return from his annual visit to Mountain View at Whitefield, N. H., "The two Dart- mouth professors who talked at Whitefield while I was there were very good."

Another classmate who has received some newspaper publicity recently is Orlando C.Davis, librarian at the Boston Public Library. The smiling countenance of "0.C." appeared in a group of scholars and church leaders making plans for the launching of Religious Book Week under the auspices of the Na- tional Conference of Christians and Jews.

Classmates will be sorry to learn of the death on September 21 of Mrs. Nellie M. Blake, wife of Henry C. Blake, instructor in French at Phillips Exeter Academy. She is also survived by a son, James H. Blake, and two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Ewing and Mrs. Dorothy Denham.
