In commenting upon the narrow defeat of his team by Army, Coach Tommy Dent remarked that the latter were a good, fast team and "it was no dishonor to lose to them." The score of this game was Army 2, Dartmouth I and the boys were at it hammer and tongs all the way. This was the third straight victory for Army and the first defeat for Coach Dent's booters, who had previously won over Massachusetts, 4 to 1. The Cadets took the initiative in the opening minutes of the game and only the strong defensive play of the Dartmouth team, especially goalie Sam O'Shea, managed to stave the Black Knights off. The first Army tally came in the second period, after which the Green forced the play, although they were unable to score. The lone Dartmouth tally came in the second half, when Art Judson got a penalty kick and made good on it. Army scored again in the final period for the margin of victory.
The Dartmouth team was considerably slowed by injuries during the game. Captain Jack Hart received a kick in the ankle in the second quarter, which sidelined him for the rest of the day. Jack Hall and Bud Addis both sustained minor injuries, but a lack of skilled defensive operatives necessitated their staying in the game. Coach Dent tried a number of combinations in the forward line, but none was able to connect with a tying or winning tally. This is a good team, however, paced by All-American Jack Hall and Captain Jack Hart, who sparks his cohorts to give all they have. Army was just a bit better, but not very much.
The Dartmouth booters came back from their Army defeat to win handily from Connecticut University, 7 to 1, on the following Saturday. After stalling for one period, the Green attack finally got rolling, with Chet Caswell breaking the scoring ice and Art Judson netting another shot soon after. Throughout the game, Dartmouth's scoring opportunities were cleverly set up by the brilliant play of Clint Chin, who also netted one goal.
