WITHOUT really planning it that way, the November issue has developed into a sort of "Mountains and Ocean Issue." Our lead article, To the Top of McKinley (Page 15), describes the first ascent of Mt. McKinley ever made up the west buttress. Jerry More '52, the author, was one of three Dartmouth men in the party of eight. On the nautical side, we offer photographs and a brief account of how a D.O.C. crew went to sea aboard the Blue Dolphin (Page 24).
President Dickey's stirring Convocation Address, opening Dartmouth's 183 rd year, is printed in full in this issue. A full report on the new class bequests program has been contributed by Nichol M. Sandoe '19, chairman of the Alumni Council committee directing this important program; and a memoir of the late Prof. Ambrose White Vernon has been written by Prof. Donald Bartlett '24.
