With the excess verbalizing on the transition of officerships plus the special football review putting such a strain on Charlie Widmayer's space limitations, we have not yet been permitted a resume of the very pleasant informal reunion of August 34-25-26 in Hanover. As your secretary was otherwise busy in Cleveland conducting some 20 extra trains tothe Red Sox-Indians games of that weekendduring those optimistic days when many wishful thinkers had the Indians in the WorldSeries, our faithful Bob Stopford, famous cochairman of the combined Fund has made thefollowing on-the-scene report.

"Ann and our two boys, Sandy and Jeff, accompanied me to Hanover primarily to relax and have a little golf, but also in the fond hope that some others in the Class would also be there. So soon after the mighty 25th, this was perhaps a remote hope. Therefore, we were delighted to see Stewart Orr with his strapping son David; Herband Frances Redman with their bodyguard in the form of son Dana; Tom and Grace Murdough from Chicago. Okie O'Connor was also there but for a short time. We all enjoyed the get-together at the Inn and a chance to discuss anything anybody happened to think of. A decidedly informal class meeting was held at which there was some discussion on candidates to run the reunion, that the class dues probably should be raised (Ed. note —this is before the executive committee), that the weather was wonderful and that as the boys get older they bring better whiskey. The high point of the weekend was the picnic at Keenes; with their usual terrific food, including hamburgers a foot thick. Anyone who has not come to one of those '26 weekends has a real pleasure in store. In every sense of the word, they are family affairs."

(How did Bob forget the Hal Marshalls?)Harry Fisher, our Yale game scout and manager of that get-together, has been doing double duty this fall and has sent in a surprise report that he was in the company of BobCleary and Don Church at the Army game at West Point. A big 1926 delegation was seen by those three consisting of Dave Harriman,Snipe Esquerre, Bill Barclay, Larry Wolff,Dick Mandel, Jake Jacobus, Ed Simmons,Frank Healy, Jim Wooster, George Bartels,Art Wilcox, Courtney Brown and BleeckerWilliams. If there are any omissions it is only because they did not fall within the range of Harry's binoculars. As it is now becoming so difficult to differentiate between wives and daughters, sons and business associates, Harry did not attempt to list the attending families except to say that many were also there. He further felt satisfied with the results and thinks that the game of football has been returned to the boys at the Academy,

We are again faced with a limitation in these notes as this issue is devoted to the Alumni Fund reports and with our large list of contributors only a few of the personal highlights can be covered; some good, some sad.

The Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. of Hartford has recently honored Paul E. Britt on completion of 25 years with the Company. He joined Connecticut General's claim department in 1926 as examiner for New York State and New,England. He was appointed Chief group underwriter in 1941, Assistant Secretary of the group department in 1944 and promoted to Secretary in 1948. Paul has also been active in civic affairs of East Hartford having been President of the Town Council and former chairman of the Republican Town Committee.

Gob Des Marais served as Chairman of the Reception Committee of the American Pulp and Paper Mill Superintendents' Convention. The tradepaper, Paper Mill News, notes that Gob injected more pep into an already joyful gathering with his leadership in the singing.

Carleton Blunt, in addition to serving as chairman of our Memorial Fund and Bequest Program, has recently been appointed division chairman in the large firms division for the 1951 appeal of the Chicago Community fund and the U. S. O. By now Carle is winding up work and undoubtedly has a wonderful record to report.

It is with deep regret that we must report the accidental death of Sew Mills' son David, age 17, while working on the Glendora plantation this fall. The sympathies of our class go to Sew in his sorrow.

Arthur F. Wollenhaupt was advanced on July 1 from promotion manager of the Poughkeepsie New Yorker and radio research director for Speidel Newspapers, Inc., to General Manager of the Poughkeepsie New Yorker.

Due to the early deadline of our MAGAZINE, there has not yet been time for reports on the fall picnics and reunions at the Harvard, Yale and Princeton games. Look to your next issue for the story on our faithful followers of the Big Green and a large roundup of news. In the meantime it is the pleasure of your officers to wish you and yours a happy and joyous Christmas season.
