In response to my Xmas greeting to Prof.Pingry, William Pingry Boynton, Whittier, Calif., came his greeting, "Thanks for your greeting—Pingry Boynton, and now since December 11, Louise B. Life is no longer lonely." Now that is real, live news that will make the headlines in the press of the Pacific coast. Their oldest, most prominent physicist takes unto himself a wife, and presto life is no longer lonely. That covers all. Any further class items at this time would be an anticlimax and will have to wait until the March issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.

Octogenarians like the secretary of '09 and myself who received our degrees of LL.B. from the Law School of Boston University within a few years of each other, as did Guy W. Cox, Dart. '93, B. U. LL.B., LL.D. '96, have seen the same expansion in both institutions of learning, on the one hand Dartmouth from the small college into the Big Green of the present, and on the other hand B. U. from the small university into the huge university of today, with 27,000 students in all departments. What Ex-President Hopkins did for Dartmouth President Marsh has done for B. U. with the aid of Guy Cox, director and for many years president of John Hancock Life Insurance Co., president of the board of trustees of B. U., the intimate friend and adviser of President Marsh, who, at close range, has had the chance to see the influence of the Dartmouth Spirit in the dynamic personality of Guy Cox.
