Having spent the first day of the New Year driving back to Buffalo from Detroit, where we saw that the year 1950 was properly relegated to history with all the pomp and ceremony due unto it, I hasten to meet a deadline with these notes and fulfill a resolution never to be late with them again. I sincerely hope that all of you acted' upon our suggestions of last month and resolved

(1) to send your pledge or contribution to our Combined Class Fund, and (2) to attend our twenty-fifth reunion in June.

The last report from our Fund chairmen, Bob Stopford and Al Louer, indicates that we are making progress toward our goal, but that such progress is rather slow. All of us know we are going to contribute, so why not do so right now? It would be wonderful to know that we have our objective in hand long before our June reunion.

WAH-HOO-WAHS!

Gilbert H. (Gib) Robinson has recently been elected president of Forstmann, Inc., distributing agency for Forstmann Woolen Co. women's wear fabrics. Gib has been executive vice-president of this corporation which he joined in 1941 and our best wishes for success in his new position go to him.

Charles S. (Charlie) Bishop was elected a vice-president of the Central Hanover Bank and Trust Co. on December 18 by the board of trustees. We also extend our best wishes and congratulations to Charlie on this step up the ladder of achievement.

John W. {Jack) Roberts was appointed assistant cashier of the National City Bank of New York on December 19 and our congratulations and best wishes also go to him. Jack has been with National City since 1927. George Champion, senior vice-president of the Chase National Bank, has been appointed chairman of the 1951 fund-raising campaign of the Protestant Council of the City of New York. Congratulations and once again, our best wishes.

Herbert H. (Hub) Harwood, according to a recent release from the N.Y. Central System,, has been appointed general passenger agent at Cleveland, Ohio. Hub has been with the railroad since 1931 when he started in the designing engineer's office in New York. He became a passenger department representative in 1937, moving to Washington in that capacity in 1941. He was appointed general agent there in 1942 and executive assistant in 1947 and only last year was made general passenger agent in Pittsburgh. To Hub, also, our best wishes and congratulations.

We wish to acknowledge our thanks to DonNorstrand, Ed Hanion and Jack Roberts for forwarding the foregoing information to us.

HERE AND THERE

According to our Inn spies the only Hanover guest in December from our class was Nate Parker Nick Nickerson, we learn, has taken on new responsibilities for Federated Metals which will involve his moving to Houston, Tex., early this year. Present at a farewell dinner for Nick at the Dartmouth Club in New York were Jack Roberts, JackBickford, Bud Banfield, Bleek Williams and their wives, as well as Joe Batchelder who was in town and dropped in for awhile to

make it a regular '26 reunion. Ed Hanlon writes that he also saw Joe for the first time since they both left Hanover and that Joe looks none the worse for the intervening years, although he can't say as much for the rest of us From Comdr. Albert E. (Al)Morris a note to the effect he has returned to active duty with the Navy, and is now Medical Officer at the Naval Air Station in Lincoln, Neb. Al's son George is now in the freshman class at Hanover, but his wife and two other children are with Al in Lincoln.

.... A note from Bob Cleary informs us of the sad news of his mother's demise in December. On top of this unfortunate happening, Bob has been having union trouble in his dairy business and the recent hurricane disrupted his company's power supply for a dangerously long time. Sounds as though Bob was having more than his share of tough breaks and we hope the new year will shine more benevolently on him.

While in Detroit on New Year's Day we stopped in and chatted with Ed and Charlotte Chaffin for an hour or so to wish them greetings. They were in the process of moving to a new home at 390 Revaid Blvd. in Grosse Pointe and, although we had a shortage of chairs, we had a nice visit. Ed and Charlotte will definitely be in Hanover next June as will John and Ada Heavenrich, with whom we exchanged New Year's greetings by phone. Others who definitely will be on hand are the Clearys, the Harry Fishers, Don Norstrand, Salingers, Stopfords, Blunts, Louers,Abbotts, Darlings, Harwoods, Roberts, Johnstons and Josts How about you—will you be there?

Id like to thank all of you who wrote and conveyed your sympathies after my accident in October. The recovery has been complete and I'm all set to go to work on the balance of the reunion plans and shall look forward to seeing you all then.

Meanwhile, don't forget to send in that pledge or contribution to the Class Fund. See you next month!
