The annual Christmas luncheon for applicants was held on December 30, at the Midday Club, and was most successful. There were in attendance about 250 people, which included 70 guests—applicants and their fathers. It is pleasant to note that many of these fathers continue to attend this luncheon after their sons become undergraduates. The interest of Dartmouth Fathers is important to the alumni and to the College and we are happy that we are able to retain their interest and attention.
Al Foley '20, as usual, held his audience spellbound. His remarks were most pertinent and occasioned much favorable comment from our guests. Al has a standing invitation to be our guest at any time he is in this part of the country. Jack Childs '09, acted as toastmaster and his performance will be discussed for many weeks. The other speakers included Curt Smith, the father of a graduate and an undergraduate, who represented the Dartmouth Fathers; Dave Johnson '35, chairman of the interviewing committee; and RayBarker '23, alumni councilor.
Among those in attendance were Ed McNeil '49, who recently moved to Cleveland from the East, and Lt. Colonel Loughry '39, who is presently stationed at Andrews Field, Washington, D. C.
