The old saying is that a young man's fancy turns gently to thoughts of love in this season. I find, however, that there is nothing gentle about the way trees throw their pollen around in this neighborhood. I always used to be free from respiratory allergies, but now I find that every time a lofty branch is bent romantically toward a neighboring work of God, I start to sneeze and cough and my eyes itch something fierce. I'm suffering from this irritation as I write this, and it colors my thoughts and unquestionably will affect what I try to say. In the first place it recalls to mind the wonderful ditty that appeared in TheDartmouth while we were in College. I only remember a little of it, which goes like this:
"The bards they sig of the verdad sprig That bages the flowers grow; Bud no wud has sug With a lusty lug Of Hadover's Abril sdow!"
Dow to ged dowd to business with a little dews of the glass.
I was intrigued to learn that Roger Benezet's new address is 46-029 Liliuna Rd., Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii. I feel as though we might find something interesting in the news behind the bare report: Dave Castleman, who has been practicing law in Hawaii [or a long time, has just been named counsel in Hawaii for the Office of Price Stabilization.

His address, after June 15, will be Woodridge Road, Stamford, Conn.. . . Whit Daniels' new address is Associated Industries of New York State, 47 W. Huron St., Buffalo 2, N. Y '32 has two new second vice-presidents of Dartmouth Clubs: Mohawk Valley has chosen Ronald Olmsted, who is otherwise occupied as treasurer of the Utica Drop Forge & Tool Cos. I'm sure you all know how little news comes directly from classmates, but it is a matter of amazement to me to notice the variety of sources of what I do learn. The fact that Forrest Fraser has been appointed executive vicepresident of Pabst Sales Company in Chicago is, of course, interesting. But I find it equally noteworthy that I learned about it from clippings in two widely separated papers, the West Coast Brewer of San l-'rancisco and the Mid West Hotel Reporter of Omaha, Neb. His previous work was director of grocery merchandising for the Kroger Company, a retail food chain.
I saw an item of some interest to the class iii my own copy of the Claremont Daily Eagle for April 24. Linda Clark, John's daughter., received a gift of a wrist watch from the Union Men's Club "for being an all-around American girL"
The announcement that the Woman's Hos- pital of Cleveland at last has "the proper tools to work with" in its new building was made by its Chief of Staff, Dr. John D. Brett.. .. At the same time, the executive director of the National Health Council, Dr. Thomas D.Dublin, was delivering its annual report at the 31st annual meeting in New York. Ihe report pledges the Council to support federal, state and local defense authorities and set as one of its goals "the best possible health for all the people," recognizing that "health is fundamental to national security."
Milt AI pert has sent me a report on his work over recent months. He is now general counsel to the New York State Civil Defense Commission. In taking this job, he went on leave of absence from his regular work as associate counsel in the New York Department of Audit and Control. His specialty is the audits and accounts section, which, from his description, sounds much like the widely respected General Accounting Office of the U. S. Government. Milt's new assignment resulted from his work in drafting the civil defense legislation. His activities in the state government over a number of years have made him an expert on municipal affairs, and he has spoken of the subject before several different organizations.
The January issue of a New York publication called Handbags and Accessories contains an interesting description of the handbag firm founded and developed by Sol Mutterperl. It's quite a story of the growth of a little shop into a vast manufacturing and selling operation. The buyer of all the supplies for the factory is Martin Mutterperl of our own class.
One of the nicest little clippings I have received is from the Hoboken (N. J.) Observer, saying that in February Dr. and Mrs. WalterH. Modarelli marked their 12th wedding anniversary quietly at home. It isn't everyone who could celebrate such an event and have it reported in the newspapers merely as "quiet." Congratulations to the happy couple!
