On Thursday, October 13, a class meeting was held at the Dartmouth Club in New York. We were honored to have several out-of-town visitors including Class Prexy Johnny Sheldon and Howdy Pierpont from Chicago, CarlosBaker from Princeton and George Hahn from Philadelphia. Also in attendance were FrankElliott, Bill Huse, Howie Sargeant, Bo Wentworth, George Collins, Sam Englander, JimCorbett, Paul Fox, Ken LaVine, Ed Marks,John Wolff, Gates Hastings, Bob Harrison,Wally Modarelli, Johnny Zimmerman, JayWhitehair, Bob Fendrich, Max Wolff, DickHazen, Morry Hubbard, Joe By ram, Mac MacKenzie, Brown Dickerson, Bill Morton, Warren Moore, Art Allen, Ping Ferry, CharlieDo err and yours truly. This was one of the largest and most interesting meetings we have had in several years - 34 men.
Johnny Sheldon announced that GeorgeHahn had agreed to accept the job of Newsletter Editor for the Memorial Fund Drive and that Howdy Pierpont had accepted the position of Memorial Fund Chairman. It is recognized by everyone that these are two difficult and important jobs, deserving the full support of the entire class. A tentative goal of $150,000 was set, and in view of the fact that this is the only time that we can make a capital gift to the College, it was felt that the goal could be achieved if everyone cooperated to the full extent of his means. Howdy announced also that we are on schedule up to this point, but to stay there, $35,000 more is needed by the end of this year. Any contribution made before the end of the year naturally would be deductible on this year's tax, and in addition earn 6 per cent interest from the date of receipt. Last year, over $1,000 in interest was credited to our account from funds on deposit. So much on this subject for now - but keep it in mind and be sure to get your payment up to Hanover before the end of the year!
