To FILL the managerial vacancy created by the resignation of Chester A. Wescott '14 as manager of the Hanover Inn, effective July 1, the Board of Overseers last month announced that Adele Hall Ives, assistant manager since 1946, had been named Room Manager and that arrangements had been made for the operation of the dining room, coffee shop and related services by August L. Zollikofer as Restaurant Manager.

Mr. Zollikofer, who is owner of the Hotel Coolidge in White River Junction, will continue to operate that hotel while having responsibility for providing all dining and beverage services at the Hanover Inn. The new head chef at the Inn is Willy Weber, the Swiss chef who has been with Mr. Zollikofer at the Hotel Coolidge for the past two years, and whose excellent meals at reasonable cost have been something of a gastronomic sensation in the Hanover region.

Mrs. Ives, who is the widow of Frederick P. Ives '19, is well known to a great many Dartmouth alumni whom she has welcomed to the Inn during the past 13 years. She was assistant manager for five years and for eight years previous to that was assistant to the manager. In her new post she is in charge of all rooms and reservations.

Mr. Zollikofer, a native of Switzerland and a graduate of the University of Zurich, was an executive with the Houdry Process Corporation for 15 years. For the past four years he has been owner-manager of the Hotel Coolidge. In extending his hotel operations to Hanover he has agreed to provide services in accordance with the high standards prescribed by the new Board of Overseers for the Inn.

Mr. Wescott became manager of the Hanover Inn on December i, 1948. Prior to that he had been manager of the Mal- vern Hotel at Bar Harbor, Me., from 1927 until its destruction by fire in 1947, and had also been connected with several Flor- ida hotels during the winter seasons.

In announcing the new managerial plan, James D. Landauer '23, chairman of the Board of Overseers, stated that it is one of the first steps taken by the Board to improve Inn services and facilities. "Since the Hanover Inn is the front door to Hanover and Dartmouth College," he said, "we plan to do everything possible to make it an attractive, comfortable and appealing gathering place for alumni, students, faculty, parents, guests, local residents and Hanover visitors. The Hanover Inn is the logical gathering place for anyone associated with, or interested in, Dartmouth, and we want the Inn to provide all the necessary services and facilities to make it a useful institution for the College and the community."

Mr. Landauer further reported that while it will take some time to accomplish them, many specific changes are being studied with a view towards providing private-room facilities for many kinds of luncheons, dinners and banquets, with facilities for handling parties privately from a half-dozen to a hundred people. One of the Inn Overseers, William L. Marcy '20, who is chairman of the board of the Statler Hotels Corporation, has made available the advice of the entire Statler organization in connection with various changes being considered.

Plans also call for some refurbishing and redecorating of the lobby and lounge rooms, as well as a systematic furnishing and decorating of bedrooms so that a given number can be taken care of every year.
