Our pleasure cruise 'round the world from the Enchanting East ended December 20, and since then we've been lucky enough to get a month in Boston for a school winding up around Carnival time, which will be about the time this column arrives at your house. So for all you other perennial sophomores, we'll be the shivering salt with the jug of joy juice at the ski jump Saturday afternoon, recipes gladly traded. So much for the trading post, and on to ...

The Hitching Post

Out Ohio way Bill Pulley and Martha Lee Lesher spliced a nuptial knot August 22. Since then they've been washing their dishes in Cincy where Gordon Hood, an usher at the wedding, reports Bill is selling Ohio Valley Plywood Company products ... "under cost, I understand: a real asset to the firm!" Roundo further states that he is continuing law studies in the same metropolis, doing some sales work himself for Kemper-Thomas, and expecting to pass out cigajs next month. Also says PhilGarran might be a recipient of one of those stogies since he's been accepting Government checks in that area.

Bill Mulligan reportedly now has a new topkick, Noreen Hickey, since he and the Army couldn't settle their contract disagreements. Walking the Last Mile

You'd think with such an impressive list of vinculum matrimonii we'd be "short on future prospects, but instead there are all sorts of lads and lassies losing their heads. By this time Dick Hollands' spiel learned at DBS has taken him down the aisle with Elizabeth Robinson of Briarcliffe Manor. Miss Robinson was graduated from Elmira College, where she was elected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. R. T. is still with National Broadcasting in NYC.

Court Cross and Marjorie Ruth Bethell were engaged October 13. The announcement came from Montclair, N. J., home of the Smith '51 grad. Same day in South Dartmouth, Mass., Isabel Proud and Gary Earle were betrothed. The prospective spring bride studied at Emma Willard, Wellesley and Katy Gibbs. Gary is with Macy's in New York.

Barbara Ann Hillard of Framingham and Bob Gray of Lofstedt, Inc., Furniture Studio, Worcester, will tie a knot some time in the future, or so it was said October 27.

On October 30 in Roselle Park, N. J., the parents of Helen Marie Hamilton proclaimed similar intentions for her and Deane Straiton, who is employed by the Rock of Ages Corporation up Vermont way.

Minneapolis learned of locals Jack Bryant and Marilyn Queen Tickle's plans November 3. Marilyn graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Final announcement at this time is dated September 21 and carries an international note into our proceedings. Seems Dave Taylor is going to marry a Copenhagen, Denmark, lass, Birthe Joanne Aller. She was graduated from Marie Kruses Skole.

Congratulations and best wishes for happiness and prosperity to all of you good people.

Infant Info

A fine communique sent by Charlie Gardner warrants a quote in this department.

"The ALUMNI MAG. arrived today and I was surprised to see no birth announcements in the column. I know darn well plenty of 'gleams' have turned into bundles of joy, so I guess I'll start the ball rolling with my own long overdue announcement. Nancy Anne, born April 17, is in her seventh month, has two teeth for Christmas, and tips the scales at 18 pounds. Bob Thomson became associated with the Robert Gair Company of N. Y. (cardboard and plastic containers) on October 29 (sales). Ken Clark is deep in study at Yale Law School. (Ed. note: Ho ho, that's rich. Latest address for Lt. K. F. Clark Jr., 3700 0.C.T.G., O.T.S. Flight No. 1, Lackland A.F.8., San Antonio, Tex.) Bob Mauk is with Corning Glass in Toledo. ChuckCarpenter and I are still with J. Walter Thompson. Best Regards."

An equally outstanding message arrived from El Cerrito, Calif.

"I thought I had better catch you up on the doings of the Joe T. Gilchrists. May 28 . . . Jane Cooper G., our second future Smithie, made her debut. As her sister, who was born two years and a day before, Jane was born during finals, but by this time the old man had become rather immune to such slight distractions. Three weeks later Joe took off for the Golden State and a job as a Civil Engineer with Bechtel Inc. Just to prove that there's something about a Dartmouth education, he found a house in one day. I guess I should explain my writing this. Joe keeps the check book and I do the correspondence, (signed) Caroline B. Gilchrist."

Now there is a system. Looks like those of us still foot-loose and fancy free will have to avoid opening a checking account or run the danger of a permanent private secretary. To all you people married, engaged and familied, our endorsement for your good luck and happiness.

"Petey Loadsa Fun" Bucklin again reports on the splendor of swanky Quantico in glowing terms and continues his propaganda about the joys of rugged living. Some of the most rugged times have been with Herb Ray, who has gone bureaucratic and usurped a portfolio from the Navy's BuShips in Washington. Pete has also been in touch with Tommy Ringe, another fly-boy at Pensacola.

Rick and Eileen Miller spent most of the summer and fall in El Paso, Tex., where Rick has "undergone the indignity of going through the AA branch of the Army Artillery School at Fort Bliss." En route there they took in some fine Dixieland at the Paddock Lounge in New Orleans. Jazz lovers, take note.

Larry Smith informs us that West Hartford, Conn., is well cared for by such erstwhile Gold Coast inhabitants as Cul Modisette and Wade Abbott.

Jim Myers continues to amass stacks of greenbacks from Eastman Kodak in Rochester and, says wife Bunny, is going to school at the University there to finish up the year she needs for her degree. The Air Force gave Jimbo a reserve commission, but so far he's adroitly avoided active duty.

Back from Venezuela, Tom O Connell is now in Syracuse, N. Y., getting a Master s degree at the Maxwell School. "I saw Dave Kinney," he continued, and he said, "My cousins, the McCullough boys, are behaving themselves. Al Tarr dropped in from Sampson Air Base before he headed, south to commence wild blue yondering. He's doing some writing, as usual, but misses 'the boards' of Robinson as much as I do."

Wish we had space to print some of the fine mail from a lot of you good people, but maybe there'll be more room next month. But this will have to be 30-30 for now. Till March, lots of fluffy powder for you snow bunnies and Happy Ground Hog Day.
