The unanswered mail accumulating around here is mounting each time we get into port, so those of you waiting for an acknowledgment may have long white beards to stroke as you read our replies, and any kind souls contemplating a few lines of news are warned not to expect written thanks as fast as they should arrive. But it is an enjoyable predicament and sooner or later we'll get around to all of you. Since last month we have also compiled a prodigious stack of notices of love affairs; shall we peruse a few?

The Hitching PostLt. Dick Halsted has found life at Camp Lejeune, N. C., a lot easier to take since his December 22 wedding to Nancy Johnstone. The ceremony took place in Grand Rapids, Mich.

On February 9 Gary Earle married Isabel Proud in St. James Episcopal Church, New York City. She lists as alma maters the Emma Willard School, Wellesley, and Boston's Katherine Gibbs. Gary has hitched his wagon to a star . . . the red one at Herald Square advertising the location of Macy's.

Budding barrister Bill Tarlow and Marilyn Weinstein of Waltham, Mass., said their vows in Boston February 17. Mrs. T is a graduate of the Massachusetts Art School and an instructor in the same field at the Framingham High School.

The bride is a graduate of Southern Seminary and Junior College. Rab's working for his Master's at Penn.

Walking the Last Mile Naval Cadet Paul Canada is up in the air fio-uratively as well as in fact. Along about January 21 he got away from his fly-boy activities long enough to be around Malverne, N. Y., at a cocktail party announcing his engagement to Miss Frances Mary Burgess there. Via Don Cummings' mother we learned that it will be June nuptials for Don and Patricia Rowe Patton. Another Katy Gibbs of Boston grad, Pat also graduated from Lake Erie College in Painesville, O.

Future orange blossoms are in store for Girard Smith and Margaret Ann Macdonald of Scarsdale, N. Y. Peggy graduated from Dana Hall and is a senior at Smith. Gerry is modeling khaki at Camp Edwards. Bill Schneider and Miss Ruth Jean Johnson are slated for a fall hitching as of the middle of February. The prospective bride is a grad of Lenox School and Finch Junior College. Bill's currently an assistant supervisor with American Home Foods.

Also on the agenda of coming weddings is one for John McMahon and Susie Klosky of the nation's capitol. The gal is continuing her studies at George Washington University after earning a diploma at Maryland. Johnnie, who graduated from Catholic University, is presently at Maryland himself.

Webb Gault, recently returned from a tour of Japan and Korea for the Department of Defense, plans a springtime knot-tying with Merry King of Quincy, Mass. The Briarcliffe Junior College alumna is doing volunteer Nurses' Aid work in her hometown.

The engagement of Diane Merrall to BillDey was made known in South Orange February 16. Bill collects sheckles from' J. M. Mathes advertising agency in the concrete jungle of Manhattan.

The same sort of good news came out on Ens. Skip Fauver and Eugenie Ward Lamb of Perrysburg, 0., March 1. The young en-swine has a long haul between Norfolk where the USS Charles P. Cecil berths and Northampton where Eugenie is a senior.

There'll be wedding bells in June for FranAustin and Angeline Elsie Fleming. By then it should be Lt. Austin of the Army since Fran is at OCS at Fort Sill now.

On March 5 the engagement of Miss Barbara Louise Jacob, a graduate of Marymount College, and Rog Frechette was announced.

She is a graduate of the Children's Hospital School of Nursing and until recently was studying anesthesia at Ohio State. Per-Jan has been on the faculty of the Tilton School for the past two years.

Two more items close out the list of future ceremonies. Early in January Betsy King and Pete Holmes were feted in Cleveland Heights. About the middle of the same month the announcement was made that when Marguerite "Tommy" Bunnell finishes Northwestern this year she will become helpmeet of Charlie Solberg. And thus endeth the scroll of coming attractions in the matrimonial matters.

Before turning to the wanderings and achievements of other Fifties, however, we'd better let you in on the glad tidings from Billand Helen Hawkins. Seems a windy little rascal named Augustus Sloan Hawkins arrived in Pasadena, Calif., January 25. "Gusty" tipped the scales at 7 lbs., 1214 ozs. Congratulations, folks!

Inkadental IntelligentzArnie Oss, who was among the Dartmouths representing the United States at the Olympic hockey contests in Oslo, got a big blurb in the hometown press in January. He even rated top billing over "the adorable litter of 10 German shepherd puppies" and "a half dozen bouquets of fresh violets, snuggled rosebuds, and a bell fashioned of violets hung from the crystal chandelier." It was quite a story.

Some new addresses and jobs picked up fr<6m here and there Harry Foster can be reached at the Catalogue Department of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore Brain food enthusiasts might get in touch with Bill Lambert on the trawler San Cristobal, care of the Crossland Fisheries in Marathon, Fla Don Miner is a production analyst with Boeing Aircraft out in Wichita.... And John O'Keefe is happy when people throw his product away! Don't get us wrong, it's just that the employer is Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., makers of those one-way bottles.

Recent visitors to the Hanover plain were Bob C. Kelly, Phil Pearson and Bob Burns, a native who is with Jones and Lamson in Springfield, Vt.

Service Scenery We've had lots of dope from guys working for Uncle. One note that has been collecting dust in our stack of mail informs us that Kenand Nina Rothchild have forsaken Maryland climes for West Hempstead, Long Island.

Heard from Pfc. Jay Buck at the Medical Service School, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Tex., the end of February. Jay saw his old roomies "Sweater Boy" Echikson and Jim Myers plus Ken Clark when they arrived at Lackland AFB. The latter also passed along his views on the whole matter a couple of weeks later under the guise of "inter-service rapport." Sorry, Ken, we haven't done any navigating here yet so you'll have to find your own way out of Texas. Is Fort Worth better than San Antone?

Last month you got pictorial notice that Don Hall had departed his billet on the Essex. Now we discover Arnie Bockstruck is giving CinCPac a hand out Hawaii way too. And the shortie of the triumvirate, Dick Ribble, is striking for his wings at Pensacola.

Heard from "Any face" Andy Wilde when he reported aboard the tin can D. H. Fox (DD-779) out in Japan early in March. Sounds like he had quite a trip, a few of the highlights of which were as follows:

"Traveled all the way to San Francisco by commercial air, but then I discovered I couldn't continue till I had an immunization clearance. Since a week must elapse between doses, I decided to give myself up then without taking proceed time and live on $9 a day until the following Monday. I looked up Doug and ]une Smith. Great folks.

"Monday I left aboard the Mars; Tuesday afternoon found me digging my toes into the warm sands of Waikiki. I have taken many photos since arriving in Japan and look forward to hitting 14 ports on the way back. Saw Tom Green in Yokosuka just before we pulled out. See you in Norfolk in August."

Traveling the other way is Gary Johnson who just got over to Deutschland with the Army. Gary was supposed to be a news reporter but somehow got put into the MP's. Claims it's pretty good duty, though, and that the country is really interesting.

Dick McSorley writes that he's been meeting many Dartmouths at Fort Riley's school for officer material. "Ken Radio and BudBray already have their commissions.... DickJohnson graduates next week. Pete Reilly is here as is Bill Sapers. I expect to go to Aberdeen Proving Grounds for ordnance."

Grapevine Reports There are more words from the literate class members than we have room for this month, but we'll try to fit in the pith of a few letters that are on hand. Cul Modisette, editorial master of the lurid class newsletter, sent along a few lines back around Abe's birthday saying his chateau just four miles from the West Hartford choo choo stop had been accepted as one of Duncan Hines' approved eateries and to date only seven cases of ptomaine had resulted. Indians with ironclad tummies are urged to investigate and make reports.

Warren Cox sent along the following words about important events in the big city where he's getting his medicine at NYU:

"Chip is now getting to be a big boy. He weighs 21 lbs. and is cutting teeth like mad. I find he can be quite a distraction. Barb is also in top spirits. She's doing a bit of art work, taking lessons once a week while I do some baby sitting.

"I see quite a bit of Bob Wilkinson, in fact we have been partners in some of the labs. Also see Stan Brodsky now and then, and he seems quite happy down here."

Looks like that is all we can squeeze in right now. Last solicitation of the year from this quarter. How about a few post cards from you who have been incognito lately to finish off the current series? And don't be giving Fitkin's henchmen a rough time, heah?
