It is wonderful to be able to report a long list of weddings and engagements that arrived the other day along with a dozen or so communiques from various quarters. Looks like we'll have plenty of news for this month at least. Here's what has been happening in the romance department.

The Hitching Post

Way back in April, Saturday the seventh to be exact, Lloyd Woodbury walked up the aisle in Larchmont with a bride, the former Elizabeth Angrave Andrews. She's a Middlebury graduate.

A week later in Ridgewood, N. J., DonAyres and Elizabeth Spence Wilson were married. The Wheaton-ite and her insurance husband (State Mutual Life Assurance Company of Worcester) honeymooned in Florida. Brother Bob acted as best man, and CourtCross was one of the ushers. Frank Harrington, whose inside info is sprinkled liberally through these pages, says Court is in the construction business with his dad.

Frank Dickinson and Joanne Louise Webber, both of Melrose, Mass., were wed in April too. They are living in Stoneham, Frank taking an executive training program with the United Shoe Corp. in Beverly. Joanne graduated from the Fay School in Boston.

In Boston's Old South Church, June 2, CalSia married Katherine Wai Qun of Hong Kbng and Simmons College, They set up house in Cambridge.

Chappaqua, N. Y„ was the site of a nuptial ceremony for Roger Mathes and Nancy Gene Hess June 16. Friends from Colby Junior College attended the bride while Rog included Frank Kear and Howie Lawrence among his ushers. Having his Tuck School MCS and Air Force lieutenancy, Mr. M. expects to be at Lowrie Field, Denver, this fall.

On June 23 Shirley Newell and Bill Doe took their vows in Wilbraham, Mass. Shirley, a graduate of North Adams State Teachers College, is a pedagogue in Agawam, while Bill works in the pension trust department of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield. The newlyweds are residing in that city, by the way.

Susan Lois Cozzens became Mrs. Davis Alexander Calder June 30 in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Lee Royer and Gisele Laliberte were married the same day in St. Johnsbury, Vt. The couple spent the summer there, Lee taking temporary employment with Sears, but this fall they expected to move to New York where he has a position with Price-Waterhouse, C. P. A.'s. Guess Louie Foster will look twice at their audits, now, eh what, Lee?

The last day of June proved the choice of Elliot Raymond Loeb and Joan Harriet Hefland also. Their ceremony was held at the Savoy-Plaza, New York. Ell has his M. B. A. from Columbia, and his bride was graduated from Goucher College.

Grant Gilbert met his bride of July 7 on an airliner a couple of years ago and took her hand in La Grange, 111. Her name was Janet Ann Van Alstine, a graduate of the University of lowa. Joe Hendrich was one of the ushers.

Julia Hall Elliott, of Stamford, Conn., and Bob Thomson were wed on July 7 too. CharleyGardner and Don Daniels were ushers. Bob is with Petroleum Heat and Power Company in Stamford, and his bride graduated from Katy Gibbs in New York.

The third marriage of the day found BobMauk and Joan Webb Eaton at the altar in Calais, Me. Clint Mauk was best man for his brother. Joan was a Co'by Junior, and Bob just finished up Thayer School in June.

Ens. Steve Pollack tied the knot with Ruth Barbara Scheinfeld in Glencoe, 111., July 21. The Sarah Lawrence graduate has a fellowship to the New York School of Social Service, something to do, no doubt, when Steve finishes his Navy school at Philadelphia and goes back to sea.

We wanted more details on Dick Johnson's intentions, and here's -what we got: in the first place, it is now Pfc. R. C. Johnson, USA. He and Margaret Nichols Baker became Mr. and Mrs. July 25 in Westerly, R. I. Peg had some Wheaton classmates in attendance, and Dick's best man was Dick Leonard while MaxWelbom helped in the ushering department. The groom has gone on to Fort Riley by now to start OCS.

Diane Nordquist of Milwaukee and WaltSchuette planned to see if two can live as cheaply as one starting July 28. The same day in Glens Falls, N. Y., Paul Rouillard and Dorothy Cowles were wed. Further info on these two events was lacking, but we trust everything went well.

July a 8 was also chosen by Joan Cady Churchell and Tom Doxsee for their hymeneal rituals. The Syracuse bride graduated from Katherine Gibbs in Boston.

Last pair to the hitching post in July was Ens. Bob Oliver and Beverly Thomas of Quincy and Duxbury, Mass. Another Katy Gibbs girl, Beverly also went to Skidmore. Bob had Bill Sapers in his party and plans to live in Virginia Beach, Va., when not out on the USS Valcour.

Walking the Last Mile

The roster of engaged couples is no less impressive than that of the newlyweds just completed. Bill Stark and Miss Judith Zentner of Milwaukee and Smith got a wedding license a year ago "just as a gag," but in March they stopped joking about it. Haven't heard when the marriage will be, however.

Along about May 12 Bud Gleason and Janet Mary Smith decided on matrimony too. The Buffalo gal is a graduate of Cortland State Teachers.

A week earlier in New Haven the engagement of Dana Jane Davis to Bill Ferguson was announced. Dana's a Toga-towner.

At the same time in the Nation's Capital Bob Wilkinson, N. Y. U. med school, and Carolyn Elizabeth Cobb, Mount Holyoke, proclaimed their intentions.

At an engagement party May 27, F. Jacqueline Emerton and Art Waterson were feted in Watertown, Mass. The prospective bride will be a senior at State Teachers' College, Framingham, this fall, while Art is in the insurance business in Boston.

Donald O. Brown and Mona Rae Williams were engaged June 13 in Fanwood, N. J., home of the Wells College graduate. Don's another of those Tuck School-Air Force lieutenants.

Alex Hoffman, turning straight man for a change after a career of spoofing via JACKO, and Marion Morse of Minneapolis made known their impending nuptials June 24. Marion is a Skidmore senior, and Alex was going to work for the Compton Advertising Agency in NYC last we heard. He and his roommate, Curt Dunnavan, somehow managed to stay at the Hanover Inn last July, a feat envied by many of us no doubt.

Em.il Hudak wrote a swell note a few weeks ago telling about his job in Gimbel's executive training program and engagement to Carol Ann Hussey of Rochester. The latter event started at Winter Carnival, as good an advertisement for that weekend as we can think of. Also mentioned seeing some Indians around Gotham, including Stew Young.

July 8 the engagement of Glenn Blood and Constance Elaine Brown was made known. The Centenary Junior College graduate teaches school at the Sarah Ward Day Nursery, and Glenn is employment manager at General Cable Corp., Perth Amboy, N. J. A September 29 wedding is planned.

Looks like an autumn marriage for Bob J.Kelley and Suzanne Ring Cooney of Jenkintown, Pa. The word came out on July 8.

Miss Ruth Jane Freedman of Newton Center, Mass., became Joel Leavitt's fiance July 23. She's a junior at Wellesley now.

Joe Sardella is engaged to Eva Jensine Sorli of Lynnfield Center, Mass. A native of Norway, she graduated from Stavanger Business School there. Joe is taking graduate work in education at B. U.

Between the New York Times and his letter, we found out that Ken Rothchild and Cornelia Howard Peek intend to be hitched September 23. Rock is currently at school at Fort Holabird, Md., but is confident the Army will give him time to make the trip to New York. Nina graduated magna cum laude from Smith in June and has been working in the actuarial department of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York.

August 9 Phyllis Anna Carlson and DickWetherbee, both of Concord, N. H., became engaged. No plans announced.

That's about it at this writing as far as matrimonial matters are concerned. We have lots of other tidings in other sections however, and room for only a little. We'll try to hit a couple of highlights.

Inkadental Intelligenz

Recent Hanover Inn-mates: Mr. and Mrs.J. William Embree III in May and Jim Moulton June 21. ... Congrats to Dick Robie who was awarded a fellowship at the University of Chicago to study for his master's and Ph. D. in geology.... Ditto for Phil Charron who was given an M. A. in history and international relations at Clark University, Worcester, Mass., and Dave Vogel and Dave White, masters of science from Minnesota.... Good luck to Phil Chase who's starting the long haul towards a Ph.D. in clinical psych at Colorado.

Nervous in the Service

A few "private" notes to throw into the caldron: Pfc. Bill Stone is now a shutterbug in the "Winged Victory" 43rd Infantry Division, Camp Pickett, Va.... Pvt. Wally Young was presented a medal for proficiency in Leaders School at Camp Breckinridge, Ky.... Pfc. Bruce Parker, radio operator in the Radio and Message Center of the 321st Signal Batallion, is stationed at Fort Meade.

We'd never hear the end of it if EnsignsRibble, Bockstruck and Don C. Hall didn't get their names in print this month. Saw them all on the Essex while we were going from ship to ship out here looking for the Waller. Dick and Don are less than overjoyed at having been moved into communications, but Arnie is still being intelligent Navy-wise and at least all three had a colorful trip from Washington to Washington (D. C. to Bremerton) last winter. Even saw Dan Schausten in Dallas en route. And about a week before the reunion on the carrier, we'd seen Bob Sisk on a transport we hit at the same time. That poor guy is on his way back to Hawaii and his $35 limousine. Tough deal, Bob!

Can't squeeze in any more this time. Look us up again next month, though, and keep the mailman busy. He's been wonderful.
