More and more good news from Watty about the attendance at our Fiftieth. Perhaps we can get special notice, as we did at our 45th, for the largest percentage at the festivities.
Several of our classmates have become residents of Florida: Bert. Briggs at Naples, HarryHill at Eustis and Tom Barnes at New Smyrna. Harry MacKinnon seemed settled at Daytona but moved back West. As to RoyHatch, our genial class agent, I never know where he is. He has homes at De Leon Springs, Fla.; Hubbardston, Mass.; Maplewood and Montclair, N. J.; but is apt to be found in Scotland or Arizona. I recently received from Roy a letter post-marked Pullman, Wash., where he said he was visiting his son who is a professor in the University. Roy said from there he was bound to the Southwest to visit the home of the Pueblo Indians. It would be a toss-up between Roy and Frank Drake to choose the class peripatetic.
Tom Barnes has served on the rationing and school boards of his town and is now on the library board, and he says they have the best municipal library in Florida. Tom writes he recently had a visit from Frank Halliday, who has a home in Winter Park. Tom will surely be at our Fiftieth for he has a grand- son, Tom Barnes Clapp, graduating this year. 7 • " _ * C«-
Clarence Hosford is wintering in St. Peters- burg, but writes he will be North in time for our 50th.
We are sorry to hear from Washington of the death of Mrs. Janet Pillsbury, who died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the General's home on Connecticut Avenue. She was the daughter of General William T. Wood and much beloved in Washington.
It is with the deepest sense of loss that we have to record the death on January 20, of Joe Holmes. Joe was a most loyal classmate, served as trustee of our Class Fund for many years, and gave us gratuitously all the fine stationery to use for our reunion notices. He lived next to Percy Dorr on Long Hill St. in Springfield and Percy had been with him the day before when he was apparently in good health. Joe had planned to be with us next June and we shall greatly miss him. Ralph Taylor and Percy attended the services.
