Now that September is here, the job of keeping everyone posted is in my lap; and as new class secretary, I will sincerely endeavor to keep everyone well informed of the various activities and news items that come to my attention. I do not claim to be a columnist, nor was I very proficient in any of my English courses, so undoubtedly I may commit major crimes from a literary standpoint.

The July issue of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE brought everyone up-to-date concerning the activities of the tenth reunion, and for those of you who missed it, I would sincerely suggest that you start a 1959 reunion fund so as not to miss our 15th get-together. Everyone had a real time and I must confess that during the class meeting on Saturday morning, at which time the secretary's job fell to my lot, I was incapacitated due to the previous night's activities. To "Colonel"Eady, Bud Kast, Jimmy Adams and Chuck Longfield I can truthfully say that your lack of attendance was quite disappointing. From my own standpoint and numerous others' the reunion was like old times again.

The big question in everyone's mind was what we can do to get more spirit into our class group. Anyone having any suggestions along this line, send them in for publication. Possibly we might work out some type of regional get-togethers which would cut down the traveling distance for a great number of us. Personally, I would like to see yearly regional junior reunions, because as time goes forward the class spirit will gradually die unless we do more to preserve a closer relationship with one another. While on the subject of closer class affiliations, it has occurred to me that it would be a good idea for each member of the Class of '43 to have a directory listing everyone geographically by cities and states. This booklet would also have an alphabetical index listing . the names of the class members and their addresses. Each class member then would have a greater opportunity to maintain contacts. I know I have found myself in various cities without knowing whether any of my classmates lived there. Anyone having any ideas concerning the feasibility of such a guide book please send in comments. Undoubtedly the cost of preparing the booklet could possibly be covered by selling advertising space to hotels throughout the country, since it would be used mainly by classmates while traveling.

Kelley Coffin has written and asked that the class members be informed of an idea that is now underway. This is the move to provide the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE to all the widows of deceased classmates, with the cost underwritten by the class treasury. At the present time we have about eight widows to whom the MAGAZINE will be sent.

A letter from Chuck "Giants" Feeney asks that the class be notified that the Bill Remsen Memorial Fund is still open to anybody who wants to contribute. Checks should be sent to James Elleman, Chemical Bank and Trust Cos., 165 Broadway, New York, N. Y. All checks sent to the Memorial Fund should be made out to the Trustees of Dartmouth College with the note in one corner that it is for the Bill Remsen Memorial Fund.

A letter from "Steve" Stevens, your past secretary, states that he hopes to be home again in about a month from the hospital and I am sure that he would appreciate hearing from you. His address is 12 Berkshire Street, Worcester, Mass.

Names make news and consequently here is a rundown of the latest information that has come in from the various news sources throughout the Country.

Emil "Bud" Mosbacher hit the headlines and Time magazine with his sailing feats in the Huguenot Yacht Club Regatta. Bud is one of the outstanding skippers in the country today. Not to be outdone, Warner "Over theDam" Willcox also broke into print in the same regatta by capturing two triumphs over the racing weekend.

News has come that Kelley Coffin, our new chairman of the executive committee, is now the general agent of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Cos. at Rutland, Vt. RichardGlover received his M.D. from the University of Kansas in June of this year.

The latest batch of clippings to be received from various papers bring forth the announcements of the following marriages. JohnKimball to Susan Mallory, a Radcliffe graduate; Bill Alexander to Mrs. Joan Hixon Martin; "Van" Lloyd to Virginia Zerega, now on a wedding trip to Europe; Edward O'Brien to Lorraine Ackerman of Chicago.

Those not quite at the wedding stage but whose engagements have been announced are "Stan" Lambert and Carolyn Miller.

The peculation of the country increased another notch with the announcement from "Howie" Geer of the birth of their first child, Julia. This hasn't helped the Dartmouth prospects, Howie, but congratulations.

That is all the news that has come in up to the present time, so please send any information that we can use in future columns. We are all interested in all members of our class, as well as ideas on how to promote a better class spirit and a means of keeping us in closer contact with one another. Any suggestions or criticisms on the idea of the class guide would be very much appreciated. In recalling past issues of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, secretaries are always screaming for information. Consequently it is only through your cooperation that an informative column can be presented. Now let's all get off our... and dig up any items that can be found. Remember, we will print all the news that is fit to print, and if the censorship is not too harsh, a little bit of spice now and then.
