A short letter this month due not to the lack of news, but rather the lack of space.

A report to you on your class officers' get together, which included not only officers but also classmates in the vicinity of Hanover over the weekend of the Brown football game. This, from my point of view, was the best gathering ever, due to the one single fact that we had a larger, more diversified group, all there for the same purpose, namely, talking over the affairs of the class and having a good time. We should have more such meetings wherever any class officers are located — it stimulates class activity. Let's have one more this year! The Lyme Inn was our point of rendezvous. A vociferous proprietor met his match when he tangled with such illustrious '43s as Chuck Feeney and Bob Clark of Keene, N. H. Chuck, as you all probably know by now, will be moving to the West Coast with the N. Y. Giants and I gathered from his charming wife Margaret that he does everything but pitch and catch as far as that club is concerned at this time. Regardless of his coming move, Chuck was in great spirits and gave us much to chuckle about during his two days' stay. I again saw him at the Harvard-Dartmouth game, but naturally, he was a few seats closer to the 50-yard line than I so we did not have much opportunity to confer further.

Others present at this gala gathering were Dr. Robert Craig and his bride Jean, who unfortunately for him is also a doctor and, therefore, should be able to keep hubby under control.

As usual, Jane and Kelley Coffin were hostess and host, having made all the arrangements which included, not only the excellent accommodations at the Inn, but also wonderful seats at the football game. Although not at the 50-yard line, they were at the end where all touchdowns were scored.

Bob and Janet Krumm were up from the N. Y.-N. J. area and, whether they wanted to or not, they donated their room for all party functions. George and Ann Mason came over for one evening's entertainment, the Saturday morning meeting, and the football game. Their room was quickly filled by Pat and Bus Mosbacher, who arrived from New York planning to spend their weekend at Bonnie Oaks. One night over there, however, was sufficient for them as they found their accommodations were in a summer cabin equipped with only a fireplace for heating equipment. Although Pat, Bus, Ardelle, and myself tried to stave off the cold Friday evening with a little internal antifreeze, Bus found it necessary to arise on the hour every hour throughout the night to throw another log on the fire.

The Boston area provided a larger group than usual as Farmer and Jan Meade, old standbys at this affair, were supported by Jim and Hope Cruickshank and Doug and Betty Kipp. This made up the congenial group that was in Hanover for this affair. Oh, now wait a minute! There was one other person there. He was so quiet that I almost forgot to mention it, popular Bob from Keene, N. H., led all activities starting after 12:00 midnight. In case anybody has forgotten his last name, it's Clark, and he still has not deigned to pass it along to any fair damsel and so he continues to operate as the lone wolf, which gives him plenty of latitude and also provides much amusement for all.

At the official meeting on Saturday morning, Bob Craig gave a very efficient treasury report, highlights of which were as follows: Starting the year with $2400 cash, $1740 came in as income, $1400 was expended, leaving a balance of $2740 at the end of this year. In case any of you are wondering where our major expense is involved, the Class of '43 pays $1270 for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, and to defray mailing expense, etc.

Kelley Coffin took over the meeting from here, bringing to the attention of all those present that the Class of '43 shall have their 15th reunion in 1959. This arrangement takes into consideration that a class that was in College with us will also be back at the same time. More news about this later! Kelley will take over the responsibility of selecting a committee to work out the details for this reunion and, as you all know, there is a great deal of work and responsibility involved.

A new class directory to be published before our 15th was thought advisable. Bob Craig volunteered to investigate.

At the invitation of your class officers, Ray Buck of the College was invited to discuss the topic "Capital Gifts Campaign vs. Alumni Fund Drive." As things are very much in the formation stage at this time, I'll not attempt to foul up the details by commenting, except to say that the two will be well integrated with the emphasis on the Capital Gifts Campaign. The reason for this emphasis is that, although Dartmouth is tops in general Alumni Fund raising, it lags far behind in capital improvement fund raising —a new auditorium is needed, as well as new basketball facilities, to name just a few.

Our official meeting closed with a rousing vote of thanks to Bud Silverstein for his unfailing efforts as class agent. He probably puts in more time than all the rest of us combined and he deserves a great deal of credit for such undaunted enthusiasm.

Why not other class meetings in various parts of the country stimulating ideas and interest for our 15th!!

Birthday congratulations from the Class to all those who are getting older and an expression of gratitude from yours truly to all who have written notes on your cards. It gives me a wonderful backlog of news for next month.

Next month, birthday card news (the hottest tips on the class), comments on newspaper articles concerning you, sent to me by the College, and I hope an announcement naming your new Newsletter Editor.

That's all the space! Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season to you all and may your New Year be a pleasant and very prosperous one.
