Ever since the class of 1942 copped the Green Derby honors in the last Alumni Fund drive, Class Agent Dick Lippman has been planning his campaign for 1954. He wants all of the current assistant class agents who did such a bang-up job this past year to carry on again. But in addition Dick is looking for another twenty men to add to the assistant class agent ranks in preparation for defending our newly acquired Green Derby laurels. Besides crediting the efforts of the assistant class agents with a big part in the winning performance, Dick puts in a strong plug for the cumulative performances of past members of the class agents' team, particularly his immediate predecessor, hardhittin' Ad Winship.

I see by the papers that Addison L. is now second chairman of the Melrose Red Feather Drive residential division. That class agent training is finally bearing fruit. Incidentally Ad also finds time to be assistant manager of the Bushway division, General Ice Cream Corporation.

This has been a slow month as far as news of our guys in the service. However, we did get some information on Marine Major Jona-than D. Mendes who was awarded a gold star in lieu of a third Air Medal "for meritorious acts while participating in aerial flight against the Communist." The Major saw action as a pilot in- the central Pacific during World War II. Before being recalled to active duty he was employed by the Firth Carpet Co. of New York City as an industrial engineer. Major Mendes has completed thirty combat missions where enemy fire was expected or received, as a pilot with a Panther jet squadron of the First Marine Aircraft Wing.

Dr. Russell F. Greer (Major USAF) is in the Veterinary Medical Corps, doing medical research on animal and human diseases. It is up to Russ and his associates to try and prevent human diseases that come from food or animals.

Speaking of doctors, Martin S. KlecknerJr. of Chicago has quite an impressive list of appointments. He is an associate in medicine, Northwestern University Medical School, on the staff of Wesley Memorial Hospital, consultant in medicine at Hine's Veterans Hospital, and certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

We don't have quite as complete a file on Dr. Frank Garran Jr. But we can safely say that he is connected with the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and that he and Fran made a recent trip to Hanover to visit friends.

From Pittsburgh comes word that John P.Kelsey has resigned as assistant treasurer of the Sharon Steel Corporation to become vicepresident and general manager of the Mid-America Research Corporation.

Don't forget your check for Charlie Sturz. Not only is the class treasury still groggy from the financial bout with the big tenth reunion, but also Charlie is incurring all sorts of expenses in his move from Scarsdale to Detroit. And speaking of the dues notices, please make use of the return postals we're sending along. It's the most painless method of correspondence we have run into.
