Here's one note on the recently completed football season which may make the future look a little brighter. Next year Brown and Lafayette will replace Army and Navy on the schedule.

Probably the biggest news bonanza to show up in my fall mail was a long letter from Dr.Wayne Martz of Pittsburgh. The good doctor reports on quite a list of '42s. Both Bob Klein and Tony Susen are doctors associated with Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Bob is in research and Tony is a neurosurgeon. NeilBarber, proud father of three daughters and a son, lives in Philadelphia and travels for Hooker Electrochemical. John Brill has finally deserted the bachelor ranks for a charming Brazilian miss. He is a civilian legal aide attached to the Army Corps of Engineers. In New Haven Dr. Hank Woodworth is working toward his Ph.D. in bacteriology. Ethyle andRalph Farnum are happy to report a son and heir. They live outside of Schenectady, N. Y., where Ralph works for General Electric. Also seen in the Pittsburgh area was Merrill McLane.

The Martz family, Wayne, June, and their three youngsters vacationed in Hanover in August. Not even the steady rain could keep them from having a wonderful time seeing their old friends again.

The opening of a new food market in Swampscott, Mass., was announced by PhilBlood, president, owner, and manager. Phil is a fourth-generation member of the Blood family which has operated high quality stores in Greater Lynn for 75 years.

More news has been received on the appointment of Don Mead as assistant vice president of New York Life Insurance Co. He will head the company's newly opened Dallas investment office, handling all matters relating to corporate securities, and surveying investment opportunities in the Southwest and Middle West.

After a 25,000-mile, two-month long trip during which they flew their single engine Beechcraft to Europe, Africa, the Near East and back to the U.S., Hampden and ChristineWentworth recently returned to their home in Redondo Beach, Calif. Hamp is president of Longren Aircraft Co. and Christine is vice president in charge of public relations. They have two daughters and a son.

Two years in Libya ought to be long enough for anyone, but Posie and Bate (Capt.C. B. Jr.) Ewart are thinking seriously of staying on. Bate is an air attache officer with the Army.

Out in San Francisco John Stewart, BobWhite and Bill Clark have the nucleus of a strong '42 delegation. Jack Harriman and Lowell Peterson are in Southern California in the Los Angeles area. Jack Harriman Jr. was born last spring, making it two boys and a girl for the Harrimans. It's now two girls and a boy for the Petersons, after their daughter's recent arrival. Pete has just been made vice president of the Lytton Company which encompasses a real-estate, loan-broker business, a construction company and a savings and loan association. Jack has been practicing law mostly for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph. John Wyper was in California in October traveling for Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. of Hartford.

Dave Niven took time off from selling space for Life in New England to celebrate the birth of his first daughter last spring. Dave and Olive also have two boys, aged 11 and 7 respectively.

The director of Cheaper By The Dozen last summer at the Horseshoe Lake Theatre for Batavia Players, Inc., was J. D. LeSeur of Batavia, N. Y. J.D. is practicing law and was president of the Genesee Community Chest. Another law notable is Dick Duncan of Claremont, now serving as assistant attorney of New Hampshire.

Dick Lawton is the head of the Physiology Section at the Aviation Medical Acceleration Laboratory, Naval Air Development Center, Johnsville, Pa., and Associate Professor of Physiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is now located in Hatboro, Pa. Dave Smith is back in the Navy for a second tour of duty after five years as a pediatrician in Philadelphia. He and Eleanor and their three children are sweating it out in Jacksonville where Dave is attached to the hospital at the Naval Air Station. Dick Peebles started in last fall as clinical psychologist with the child psychiatry unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Ed Doty is personnel manager for a couple of divisions of Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., on Long Island. He and Ruth live with their two children in Port Washington.

John Adams, living in Dolgeville, N. Y., is in the personnel division of the Daniel Green Slipper Co. He and Beatrice have two daughters and he is master of the Masonic Lodge this year.

Another hold-out in the ever-thinning bachelor ranks is Boston's Paul Breck. Last summer, to escape from designing school houses for Cleverdon, Varney, and Pike, he took a three-week vacation trip to Banff and Jasper in the Canadian Rockies. Dick O'Brien is another active Massachusetts citizen. He flies one weekend per month for the Navy, worked on the Community Fund and recently bought a 100-year-old house. Also he finds time to help raise four daughters and work at Smith & Forsyth, where they make folding boxes.

Thanks to all of you good people who have taken time to send me notes this past year, I still have a few I'm saving for next month. Though it is a bit premature as I write, I'd like to convey to you all my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
