My social news is limited this month. No engagements or births to report, but several guys committed themselves at the altar. RayRasenberger of Washington was married August 29 to Miss Nancy Eleanor Pesek of Minneapolis. Barber Palmer of Silver Spring, Md„ was married the same day to Sally Lynn Parsons of Kansas City, Mo. Barber is a senior at George Washington University Medical School.... Tom McManus of West Orange, N. J., was married August 8 to Miss Mary Lida Tibbals of West Orange. Tom is studying at Penn Dental School. ... LouClarke of Deep River, Conn,, was married in early August to Miss Patricia Ann Foster of Yalesville, Conn. At that time Lou was a mechanical engineer with A. C. Gilbert Co., but just yesterday I got a letter from him from Hanover where he and the new Mrs. have started the summer session at Thayer School.
Clayt Morey of Garden City* N. Y., was married August 29 to Miss Frances Veronica White of Great Neck, N. Y. Clayt is attend- ing Columbia University School of Archi- tecture while working for Raymond Loewy Associates of New York.. .. Jay Versfelt of Garden City, N. Y., was married September 12 to Miss Rosemary Elizabeth Nammack, also of Garden City. Stu is with the St. Regis Paper Co.... King Ball works for the North America Insurance Companies, and the Balls are now living in Des Plaines, Ill.
September 8 found two classmates visiting the Hanover Inn. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Mullen of Brooklyn and Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Morris of Falls Church, Va.
A letter from Vail Haak down in Atlanta announces that business commitments, in which he has to travel such a vast area, force him to submit his resignation for this spring's class agent position. His successor will be announced soon. We're sorry to see that Vail must retire as he did a fine job filling in when Johnny Stockwell had to take a leave.
Harvey Nolan called to check on whether I intended to hit the Yale game, but as of this writing I don't. My annual trek to Cambridge will probably be my only attendance, plus, of course, last week's TV appearance. At the Harvard game I'll be there with a gang which, as of now, consists of Art andBetty Wallace, Summy and Nonie Arneson,Bert and Sue Rodman, Tom and Ann Swartz, and Rocket and Barbara Reed. I'm sure there'll be many others there, but more on that later.
A letter from Paul Woodbury from way out in Malaya, which he was just leaving to report to Westover Field, Mass., via India, Fortress Europa, etc. Paul's in the Air Force and bumped into both Dave Vogels and Brayt Meyer in Japan. Brayt was a purchasing officer in Korea and was also happy to be on his way home. Paul hopes to see me at any of several football games this fall.
A letter from Pete New out in Columbia, Mo., in June, when he had just received his A.M. degree in sociology and anthropology. Pete does more traveling than any other three guys I know. In May he was in Chicago with El Baritz (there on business) and Reed andMrs. Parker. Reed got back from Europe (SHAPE) in March and is now a security analyst with Harris Trust. He and wife Kay are living in northside Chicago. El told Pete about the Russ Blackwoods who live in Greenwich Village while Russ is on a fellowship at Columbia. Pete himself enters Michigan this fall on a Metropolitan Community Seminar Research Fellowship, which means a study in Flint, Mich., with time to work on his Ph.D. thesis and to take some public health courses. Pete was reading up on osteopathy at Kirksville School of Osteopathy in Missouri and noticed that Gordon Parsons was a third-year student there.
Now into miscellany, as space allows.... Bob C. Smith was promoted to first lieutenant in May. Bob is the holder of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for meritorious service in Korea. Charlie Holtzman received the M.D. degree in June from N.Y.U. College of Medicine. Ariz will intern at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn.... Loomis Dana was the Camp Director for a summer YMCA day camp in Lawrence, Mass.... Rev. Ed MacBurney, new curate for St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover, took over his duties last month....Ed Martel has accepted a position on the editorial staff of the Marlboro (Mass.) Enterprise.
Fred and Mrs. Springer-Miller of Alexandria, Va., are the advertising manager and editor of the Peapack-Gladstone Exponent (in New Jersey). Fred received a Master's degree from North Carolina University in 1952, the degree being in Comparative Literature. ...Hank Williams was named first, president of the Community Nursing Service of Dalton, Mass. Hank is assistant to the treasurer at the E. D. Jones & Sons Co. in Pittsfield. He is married to the former Joan Taylor of Dalton and has a son Henry 3rd.
Bob Muenzberg was appointed special agent in eastern Massachusetts for the Aetna In- surance group. He will have his headquarters in Boston where he will be associated with State Agents Homer W. Jones and Harold M. Estabrook. Bob was top man of 34 in his training class.... Palmer Worthen is associated with his father in the practice of law in Marblehead, Mass. Palmer has three children now.
Dick Desmond, a Second Looie, is the head of the Otis Air Force Base Athletic Staff. ...Alex Smith received his M.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati in June and is now an intern at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.... Joe Kelley was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree at Western Reserve University in June.... Degrees from Harvard in June included Andy Cay, LL.B., NormCrisp, M.D., Bob Underbill, LL.B., and DeanWorth, M.A.
Nellie Abrahamsen received the B.S. degree in optometry at Ohio State University in June. ... Jud Blakely likes working for Byllesby & Co. where he trades securities. ...Dick Tobin married Dr. Judith Gedney in April and is now an intern at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover.... OrtHicks is now a Teaching Fellow in the Geography Dept. in Hanover.... Mike McGean has been named assistant to the Secretary of the College in Hanover. Mike and his wife, Lois Waring McGean, are former World and U. S. National Pair Skating Champions. In Hanover, Mike will be in charge of preparing the official college Weekly Bulletin.

COMMANDING OFFICER: Copt. Joseph J. Brady '48, USMC, has reported for duty on the staff of Admiral Lynde D. McCormick, Atlantic Fleet, as Commanding Officer of the Marine detachment. Captain Brady served in Korea with the first Marine division.
