It's a beautiful fall day, and Saturday's surprising win over the Yalies helps any day look brighter. It's been a long time between victories up north, but none is so sweet as one versus the Blue.
Reunion propaganda has just begun to flow my way, and by my next column I'll have adequate news on it, including our reunion chairman and committee. Mike McGean is the one in Hanover from whom I hear, as Mike has recently been appointed Assistant to the Secretary of the College. Mike and wife Lois are thus Hanover fixtures. I am advised that the reunion committee is to be made up from "nominations" by me and the guy I choose as reunion chairman. That may sound as if I'm convinced that I'm the Big Cheese in our Class, but before I get a swelled head, I hastily add that all such decisions must be approved by our class executive committee, which consists of DickHook, Bert Rodman, Bob Alden, Brud Becker, and lil ole me. Anyway the wheels are beginning to turn toward a big reunion, so plan to join us.
Pat and I chose the wrong weekend to travel to see the Green play, as we journeyed to Cambridge on October 24. The game itself was not lucrative, though exciting throughout, but we did have much laughs with many classmates. We spent the afternoon and evening with Summy and Nonie Arneson, Bertand Sue Rodman, and Art and Betty Wallace. Sitting directly behind us at the game (where incidentally, we got the best seats we've ever had at that game forty-yard line) were ElBaritz, Ritch Hunt, Russ Blackwood, andHarv Chandler with their respective fiancees, dates, and fraus. Others seen throughout the day were Fred Smith, Jack Kilmartin, BobMuenzberg, Bud Hughes, Jep Ellingwood,Scott Whipple, Howard Wing, and RocketReed. I suspect there were many others there whom I missed.
This past week I was in Hartford on business and called Bob Barnaby at his home with his three count 'em wild Indians. Bob assured me he would be in New Haven Saturday to Wah Hoo Wah, so perhaps I should have taken the hint and joined him. I also called Ken Soule's dad to ask his whereabouts, and Mr. Soule says Ken and the Mrs. are living in Albany.

Lem Howe of Reading, Mass., was married October 3 to Miss Jean Alberta McKenney of Melrose, Mass.... Johnny Oakley of Summit, N.J., was married on October 10 to Miss Ann Kirkland Young, also of Summit. Johnny is a grad of Tuck. Ray Rasenberger of Washington was married on August 29 to Miss Nancy Eleanor Pesek of Minneapolis.
Recent Hanover- Inn visitors were Lt. andMrs. Bill Perkins of Omaha, Nebr. (Bill's in the Air Corps) and Palmer Worthen of Marblehead, Mass.
I've received two extremely cute birth announcements. From Jack Madigan down in New Orleans comes word of the arrival of Lewis Gittings Madigan on October 9. Jack reports Lewis is to be his left halfback to go with his left guard, originated sometime ago. Jack also reports to have seen FrostyWilliams who's due in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. Frosty is a G.X. if I remember correctly.... From Jay and Barbara Rosenfield down in Norfolk, Va., comes word of the arrival of the U.S.S. Rosenfield since named Kim Ellen, on October 3. Their navigation announcement has one descriptive sentence "Watertight Integrity: None."
From Charlie Fay's dad up in West Roxbury, Mass., comes a photo of Charlie receiving his captain's bars over in Munsan Korea. Mr. Fay reports that Charlie's family is living in Santa Barbara, Calif. I have enclosed the photo with my column in the hope that the MAGAZINE will print it. Charlie is a Marine.
From Dave Vogels, another captain, but in the Air Corps, over in Japan, comes word that his navigation work has slowed down some since the Korean truce, but not as much as you might think. He says the real slowdown is the Government's economy program, where most fliers are allowed up only a few times a month.
From Elsa Edwards down in New Rochelle N. Y., comes word that husband Jug (Robert E.) too is in Korea. I've forwarded his address to several of his Hanover buddies, so I hope he'll soon be receiving mail. From Bill Knight out in Rockford, III., just today came word that he is now associated in the law offices of his father, and the same office that his grandfather opened 68 years ago.
Jordan Kurland has received a Fulbright Scholarship and has left for Holland with his wife to engage in research. Jordan has received both a B.A. and an M.A. (from Boston University) in early Russian history. He then enrolled in the Russian Institute at Columbia where he was encouraged to delve into Dutch- Russian diplomatic relations. His Fulbright grant was a result of this study.
Harry Randall was admitted to the New Jersey Bar on August 13. He received his LL.B. from Rutgers.
Bert Rodman has set up Aetna Insurance offices in Boston with his brother Sumner. Bert specializes in all phases of fire, casualty and marine insurance, while Sumner is a C.L.U. (Certified Life Underwriter). Bert had been a direct agent for Aetna, and I know had done very well. Being in his own agency now offers him a fine opportunity to expand even further.
All for this time. How about a letter?? And don't forget we expect you for reunion in June, so if you must look for a baby sitter in advance, start looking!!
