This is Carnival week up in Hanover, and I hope they have as much snow and cold weather as we've had here in Rhode Island the past week. If so, the ski and hockey affairs would be a huge success. Have lots of news clippings this month, several swell letters, and some miscellaneous items, so here goes....

Lt. Harv and wife Jane Nolan came over to spend the evening with us on January 5, 10 days prior to Harv's shipping out to Camp Pendleton in sunny California for overseas shipment. We had a swell visit, and as I've mentioned before, Harv saw plenty of action back seven years ago, so let's hope he's back with us soon again.

A little over a week later, Pat and I went up to Walpole to spend the evening with Johnand Nancy Stockwell. This also was a very pleasant evening. Johnny and I caught each other up on our class efforts of the past 18 months, and then planned for the future. We both agree by experience that if more of you guys got interested in your local Dartmouth Clubs, you'd all spend some very worth-while time and meet some great guys. Particularly you fellows in business can really benefit by some of these Dartmouth contacts in your area. I wish I could adequately narrate the value the Providence club has been to me, and the fun it is besides. It would keep you close to the college and be entertaining besides. If any of you don't know the clubs' locations or days of meeting in your area, write me, or the college, and I'll be glad to help you to be better informed. I really can't emphasize how much you're missing by staying out of them. Johnny and I hope we also have found a better way to keep up on your latest address-changes, and within a few weeks, you'll each receive a card to return to me. I hope you'll all cooperate in returning them promptly, as it sure helps me in my work to know how I can reach you. And when you do move, won't you please notify Hanover of that change?????

Now into the letters of the month.... Have three from Dave Strasenburgh up in Rochester whose wedding February 10 I'm to ush at along with my ex-roomie Bobby Mauk '50. Dave was another of my ex-roomies.

A letter from my best agent, Mike McGean, out in Tucson, Ariz., announces that DeanCameron of Shaker Hts., O., is engaged to Miss Beatty Bemis of Shaker. The "capitulation" occurred over the Xmas holidays. Dean is second year Harvard Law while Beatty is a senior at Vassar. The wedding is set for June.

A letter from Jay Rosenfield in Brookline, Mass., says that over Xmas week he too became engaged. The young lady is Miss Barbara Mann of Brookline. She is a junior at Wellesley, and according to Jay the hitching is to be February 4. Jody Simons is to be one of the ushers. Jay is at M.I.T. taking Course XV Business and Engineering Administration which is similar to Tuck Thayer at Hanover. He will graduate in June and then is scheduled for Uncle Sam, who at present has deferred him until then. He says BertRodman has approached him as an insurance prospect, and that Jody Simons is at B.U. Grad School. Other than those two, Jay hasn't recently run across any of you. He and Barb have a piece of the Harvard goal post and got soaked in New Haven last fall.

A letter from Connie Pensavalle in North Attleboro, Mass. Pensy is the football coach and Athletic Director at the high school there so was busy Saturdays this past fall (his second year there). He also is the Driver-Trainer Teacher at the school and doesn't recommend it to anyone. Pensy's wife of six months is the former Betty Taylor of Rochester, N. H., who is at present a model. His draft classification is the same as mine, 3A, so we both don't know what our future holds.

A letter from Bob Rencurrel from Camp Lejeune, N. C., easily tells his vocation, a Marine PFC. He's "riding a desk" down there and has often seen Zeke Thurlow, whose wife and new baby daughter are down there with him. I'll bet Zeke is quite a family man. Zeke is working at Division Headquarters there. Bob has been at Lejeune since November 10 when he left the employ of General Motors in Boston. He also announces his engagement to Miss Martha Curtis of Scituate, Mass., on New Year's Day. That's one way to start the new year off right.

My last letter of the month comes from BobMuenzberg's mother who says that Bob is a Sgt. with the 24th Division, 5th Infantry Regiment in Korea. That's a rough place to be, I'd say, and he's been there since Christmas Day. He was recalled by the Army reserves in October. She says that Bobby Alden, a Chi Phi brother of Bob's, was at Fort Campbell, Ky., with him, but their last report was that Bobby was at Camp Stoneham in California.

Recent visitors to the Hanover Inn have been Jack Ostergaard of Pittsburgh, Pa., on December 28, and Mr. & Mrs. Ed Grant and daughter of Worcester, Mass., on January 15.

That's about it for this time, but let's all get that letter off to me that you've been meaning to write these many weeks It sure helps me, and you'll never get your name in print unless I hear scandal from someone else. And don't forget to inquire about the Dartmouth Club in your vicinity, will you??????
