Two events that would have given great joy to the former secretary of the class, EdwinA. Bay ley, have occurred in the family of Dr. and Mrs. E. P. Buchanan (Marian Bayley) births of grandsons Edwin Bayley Buchanan on July 25, 1952, and Kipp Buchanan Livingston on October 19, 1952. Ed took great delight in his grandchildren, who spent their summer vacations at the family home in Beverly, Mass., still retained by Mrs. Buchanan. The children reciprocated fully as was evidenced at a class dinner several years ago when the toast master said to Ed's small grandson, "Bayley, what do you think of your grandfather?" Bayley jumped to his feet and said, "He's a great guy. Mrs. Buchanan was unable to see as much of her grandchildren as she desired because of an attack of phlebitis suffered by her husband.
Mrs. Charles F. Chase is again in Stuart, Fla., for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. John P.Brooks, whose summer stay in Eliot, Me., was shortened by the illness of Mrs. Brooks' sister, are in Southern Pines, N. C., and the secretary and Mrs. Austin are at their winter home in St. Petersburg, Fla. The secretary, in robust health and past his 90th birthday, has become notable or notorious among his now rather limited circle of friends and acquaintances. Of '85's five now living, four are past 90. Our goal is the class longevity record.
