For the first time in many years, Dartmouth had a larger group than Cornell at the annual Dartmouth-Cornell joint meeting. As usual the alumni of both schools met in the library of the University Club. The score notwithstanding, we all enjoyed the afternoon, particularly because we had a direct broadcast brought in by wire instead of the usual telegraphic report.
On December 9, a dinner was held at the Athletic Club in Milwaukee in honor of TomCurtis '32, from St. Louis, who is a Trustee of the College. Tom and a group of about 20 alumni exchanged ideas about the College. Those who attended felt they gained a new and closer view of the College and we believe that our guest got some of the feeling of the alumni in the Midwest.
The regular Monday luncheon was expanded on December 28 to include more than the usual number of alumni. The undergraduates, home for Christmas vacation, gave us news of the College, straight from the undergraduate point of view.
Ernie Rice '42, who has recently rejoined the regulars at the Monday luncheons after a tour of duty with the Army in Alaska, has accepted an appointment to head the committee for the Glee Club concert in Milwaukee next spring. The date is to be April 7 and the assistance of all alumni in the state will be called for in this undertaking. We will have more news of the concert in future issues.
Bill Kieckhefer '40 and Ted Fajen '46 are starting their committee work with the outstanding boys in Milwaukee high schools who are good prospective Dartmouth men. Any up-state alumni who know of boys in their area who should be contacted, should write to Bill at 1107 East Courtland Place, Milwaukee, Wise.
Secretary, 430 W. Hampton Ave., Milwaukee 11, Wise.
