Since our last get-together we have received, and pass along with deepest regret, the very sad word that Bill Klingaman took his life on February 7. This news is almost unbelievable in the light of the fact that Pete Fitzherbert had received a bright letter from Bill, written only a couple of days before his death, in which he had gladly agreed to draw more of his inimitable cartoons for use on our Alumni Fund stationery. The Class will miss this talented member and sends its deepest sympathy to Bill's wife Ann and family.

We're mighty grateful to a staff writer on the Youngstown, 0., paper for a feature article on Bill Watson, from whom we hadn't heard in some time. The article traces Bill s career from his days as a sales trainee with the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company to his presently elevated spot as manager of Pittsburgh's Youngstown unit. Bill keeps the area well painted and glazed and is a member of practically any civic group you want to mention ... he heads the 750-member Poland PTA, is active in the Elks, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Youngstown Club, Home Builders' Association, Mahoning Valley Builders' Association, Youngstown Country Club, etc. Bill has gained a name for himself as a golfer and works out regularly at the Y.M.C.A. Wow!

Near fell into our bowl of Wheaties the other morning in Stouffer's (42nd Street) Restaurant when, upon squinting over the top of our Tribune, we focused on Stu MacMackin searching out a place to light. Joined him and got the low-down on his current existence. Seems he's touching most of the G. E. bases, having moved a year or so ago from Schenectady to their Pittsfield, Mass., location where he is Counsel for the Turbine Division. As near as we can quote Stu's tale was this: I m in New York for a wig wagging of about 70 General Electric lawyers from all over the country. I'm plenty pleased with the job but it's costing me money the way they move me around. I'm on my third house in five years, and I manage to trade at a loss every time. Still have the same lovely wife, two daughters and a dog. Saw Russ Hurd at a football game last fall and, let's not deny it, he's got a real mustache." ... etc. Hope we meet again, Stu, and in the meantime we'll stop in on Russ when we're next in Utica and get a glimpse of that handlebar job close-up.

It cost Mim and Bill Macurda a supper a few Friday nights ago but we got caught up on the doings in central New Hampshire. Bill is with his dad in the coal and oil business in Concord. We caught Bill at the office just at closing time and he was laboring hard assembling a miniature electric railroad. He gave us some sort of a fast shuffle about it's being someday a window display for the store . a° likely story! 'Twas a delicious dinner, Mim, and apologies for interfering with the regular Friday night badminton ... found that Phil Mclnnis has been elected Deputy State Treasurer for the Granite State, having left the treasurership of Page Belting Company whom he had joined in '37.

Expect to look in on Vin II entrworth tonight. Vin is just out of the hospital after a bit of varicose cutting and trimming. He expects to be back among the Lincolns and the Mercs in a few days, fit as a fiddle Another bachelor is about to take the plunge. Caught the announcement in the BostonGlobe that Des Stewart will wed Mrs. Margaret McLucas Wilson, a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business College and formerly in the Diplomatic Service at the American Embassy in London.

Took in the Boston Annual Alumni Banquet the other night. There were six from the Class in Doolittle, TonyMuello, Dune Newell, Bob Houlihan, FrankWeston and the old scribbler. Got into a conversation with Al Doolittle on the subject of skiing which sport Al continues to follow vigorously, despite the passage of time. He confesses, however, that all three of his boys are excellent runners and have been known to beat the old man down some of the simpler hills. Oh, time in its flight, or stuff! Dune Newell continues to wear the banking uniform well. You know the single breasted sack coat, vest with gold chain connecting the two upper pockets and a satisfied expression that goes along with rising interest rates. He reports everything well in hand in Portland, Me.

Rockingham County (N. H.) Solicitor LinBrigham, is back on the job again after a 16- month command performance for the Army; Lin had been in Washington as an intelligence officer. He says it feels wonderful to be a civilian for the second time. His set-up of a home at Rye Beach and law offices in Exeter, N. H„ is a hard one to beat Understand Jim Conkling is just off the boat on this side after a tour of Europe Ed Nilsson has purchased a new home in Ridgewood, N. J.

Dropped in at the Norwich Inn just a week ago and ran smack dab into Dan Holland. Despite the ravages of time we were both recognizable to the other. Dan is still writing outdoor stories for the leading magazines in the country. His travels of recent date have taken him to Alaska, Cuba and South America. It was only about a month ago that we spotted an article Dan had written on fishing for Alaskan salmon; it is now quite evident that he knew whereof he spoke. Says he figures the wanderlust is beginning to die down and that he may soon file the suitcase and put down his roots ... maybe in the environs of Hanover!
