Mrs. Eugene D. Burbank died suddenly at her home at 42 East Carter Ave., Sierra Madre, Calif., on March 23, 1953.
Mrs. Burbank was born in Evanston, Ill., on August 16, 1868. She was graduated at Northwestern in 1890 and was a charter member of the Gamma Beta Sorority. For two years she taught in the Evanston High School and then was principal of the Blue Island High School until her marriage to Eugene D. Burbank in Evanston on December 23, 1893. In the first World War she drove for the Women's Naval Motor Corps in Chicago and later for the War Camp Community Service in Vancouver, B. C.
When Burbank retired in 1923, they came to Sierra Madre and she was a member of many organizations in Los Angeles and Sierra Madre.
Burbank in a recent note states he is very weak and lonely.
Mrs. Arthur W. French, in a letter enclosing a generous gift for the Alumni Fund, tells of her ten great-grandchildren with the probability of another in May. She writes she is very busy and well.
