The following is taken from the Rutland, Vt., Herald of May 10: "W. W. Eggleston,a native of Pittsfield, Vt., who was recentlyretired from the government service uponreaching the age of 70 years, was honored last week. Three letters from classmates were read. Mr. Eggleston indulgedin interesting reminiscences of the class of1891, and was presented with a history ofDartmouth College. Among the speakerswas Robert Lincoln O'Brien, chairman ofthe Tariff Commission, who for years waseditor of the Boston Herald. Mr. O'Brienwas in Mr. Eggleston's class for a year,and later transferred to Harvard. Mr.Eggleston lived in Rutland for some years,and has been employed in the Departmentof Agriculture for about a quarter century. He is a member of the Vermont StateAssociation and a constant attendant atits meetings. He was recently injured in anautomobile accident, but is making a satisfactory recovery. He is married, and resides at 612 Randolph St."
