We would like to report briefly on the executive meeting of the Class held October 17 at the Inn. Those present included CharlieZimmerman, Pete Jones, Truman Metzel, BudFreeman, Colin Stewart, Jim Broe, IrishFlanagan, and your secretary. Matters discussed included plans for this year's scholarship drive, the memorial book fund, class dues, bequests, the Old Watering Trough and family reunion weekend. The latter event, which has become a very enjoyable tradition for many of our class, is scheduled for February 18 and 19. Please make note of these dates.

Surely one of the particular advantages of being secretary of our class is the renewal of old acquaintanceships with men in various parts of the country. Over the Yale weekend, Barbara and I enjoyed to the fullest the hospitality of the Lyles, Rices, and Zimmermans. At the Harvard weekend, we had a wonderful evening in Boston and I will let Jim Broe take over the reporting of this event as follows:

"DARTMOUTH 1925 IN EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS held its usual September '23 night and meeting on the eve of the Harvard game, October 22, at the Bradford Hotel, Boston. For the first time ever, wives and guests were invited. This inclusion made the party so tremendously successful that we may never hold an all-stag affair again. Bob Monahan '29, Master of Forestry, Manager of the College Outing Properties and the College Forester gave a most interesting and enjoyable talk on 'The Off-Campus Dartmouth' and this is an understatement. We learned about the present-day Outing Club and for the first time many of us heard officially of the Mt. Washington and the College Grant Properties. Bob Monahan's humor, asides, and stories were incredibly entertaining. He was introduced by Mike McGean '49, Assistant to the Secretary of the College, who was such a great help, along with Paul D. Paganucci '52 and Miss Mary B. Foley, in making our 31st reunion so enjoyable.

"The award to the classmate from the greatest distance went to Charles A. Palmer of Los Angeles. Those attending were Joe Baldwin, Rog and Ruth Billings, Chet and Barbara Bixby, Jim Broe, Ted and Olive Caswell, Sherm Clough, Walt and Constance Dodge, Dr. Frank and Gertrude Downey, Glen and Margaret Elliott, Irish and Alice Flanigan, Walt and Viola Friend, Ly Harding, Sam and Miriam Home, Ed and Ruth Laventall, Art Little Jr. '53, Lester Little '57 and Miss Marilyn Pearson, Ivan and Eleanor Martin, John and Cay Read, Charlie and Jean Rice, Phil and Nan Segal, Ted and Marge Shapleigh, Bill and Anne Welch, Charlie and Opal Marie Zimmerman, and our charming guests, Bob and Ruth Monahan, Mike and Lois Mc-Gean, Paul D. Paganucci and Miss Mary B. Foley. (Mike and Lois McGean were the 1950 World's Dance Skating Champions.)"

Each year we have some '23 son or relative on the freshman team. This year it was young Johnny Foster, 6'2", and he is a grand lad. He is on crutches and will not play the rest of the year - a leg injury. Jigger Brown, Roy's son, and George, my nephew, are on the varsity. Both have seen service and have had their stretches on the sidelines brought about by injuries in the Navy game.

From Hawaii comes a very welcome letter from Johnny Coonley. More in the future about his activities, but for now he makes a complaint about Hawaii being classified in the class roster as "foreign." "We are now a territory," writes Johnny, "and have been hoping for years to become the 49th state. It irks me to be thought of as operating under a foreign flag. Maybe you can do something about it."

WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS ...Marriage of Gay, daughter of Cap and BabePalmer, to Anthony M. Frank on October 16 at St. John's Chapel, Del Monte, Calif. Marriage of Lillian Prakelt to Donald C. Goss, son of Clary and Priscilla Goss, on September 11 in Townshend Church, Townshend, N. Y. Donny graduated from Dartmouth College in 1953 and is now associated with Vick Chemical Company. Marriage of Elizabeth Ann Keith, daughter of Monk and Ana Keith, to Leigh Owen McGehee on September 12 in the Chapel of St. Francis College in San Jose, Costa Rica.

It is with sorrow your secretary records the belated news of the death of Mahlon M. Meier on April 6, 1948, in Englewood, N. J. BobWhittinghill came up with this when he made a call last spring on the Meier family in the interest of the Alumni Fund.

Information concerning Len Marshall in the MAGAZINE was a primary reason for my accepting this secretary's job. A letter from Len duly arrived which runs as follows:

"It was good to have your letter awhile back. Guess the only way we could get in touch with each other was for you to make Class Secretary. But I have thought of you often through the years, and fully intended to make a trip East each year, but find it hard to take the time. I do, however, spend a lot of time in Mexico - do some fishing and loafing down there. It is quite convenient to us.

"I hear from Wally Bassett and Syl Johnson occasionally. They are in Roswell, as you know. I am anxious to hear or read in your column about the guys back there - Glen Elliott - Stuie Knight - and please put some information in about yourself.

"My insurance business keeps me busy part of the time, and the rest of the time is easy to enjoy in these mountains. Pretty good trout fishing and hunting, and that is why I live here."
