Just to illustrate the gap this column faces,I have just come back from seeing variousassorted characters at the Yale Bowl, and bythe time this reaches you, it will be theChristmas season. At any rate, a Merry Christmas to all of '38, and may the New Yearbring all sorts of goodies your way.

In the wetness of the Gloomy Bowl, there'sno stadium any wetter, 1938 was well represented by the Hulls, Boyles, von Pechmanns,Walls, and Kings, all staving off the showerswith appropriate over-clothing in one ofthose horrible New Haven drizzles. Exceptfor its being cold, it was reminiscent of the14-6 initial victory of our generation, and ofcourse the score was the wrong way, too.

During the course of the weekend, P.Brownefl let me peruse the latest missive from Stan Brown in Brazil; he and Nena survived the Vargas crisis without undue discomfort, although there was lots of anti-American agitation.' He reports his assignment has been lengthened by one year, but that it is just as well, since he isn't too keen on travelling that distance from home with three small children.

Also during the same too brief sojourn in suburban Connecticut, I had dinner at a mutual friend's house with Tom and EleanorChapman. Tom is still with Bethlehem Steel's ship-building division and is trying to sell his own power boat.

As is customary at this time of year, when the College publishes its annual address list of Alumni Officers, we have a run-down of 1938s active in various alumni groups in this country and abroad. Karl Hill remains as the perennial Secretary of the Amos Tuck School Clearing House in Hanover, in addition to numerous other duties previously reported in this space.

Moving on down to Bridgeport, Conn., we find Bob Stearns, ever active in that Association, now president of the Dartmouth Club of Bridgeport. Georgia is well sewn up with Lou Fortuna as president of the Dartmouth Club of Georgia, and Dune Dobie, secretary of the same. Western Connecticut has its secretary in the person of Charley Keyes. The inimitable McMurtrie heads the Dartmouth Club of Indianapolis, where undoubtedly the financial affairs are well guarded, in complete secrecy. Howie Van Riper is secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Baltimore. Winding up the list of club activities, Em Marsteller is secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Virginia. And, finally, among the Hanover officialdom, Gil Tanis is with the Development Council as "Associate for Foundations."

High in the list of prominence in the world of business, Jim McKeon was recently elected vice president of Soundscriber; he holds the position of sales manager. Jim has been on the sales staff of the company for the past eight years and served as director of advertising and sales promotion. Prior to the war, he was on the advertising staff of the EveningSentinel in Ansonia, Conn. He had five years' service in the U. S. Navy, most of it spent in the Third and Fifth fleets in the Pacific; he was released as a lieutenant commander. He is a past vice president of the New Haven Sales Executives Club and is secretary of the Southern Connecticut Chapter, Armed Forces Communication Association.

Johnny Meachem has been appointed to the Donald W. Goode insurance agency in Manlius, N. Y. Meachem was formerly treasurer of S. Cheney & Son of the same town.

Since this issue of the MAGAZINE carries the list of 1938 contributors to the Fund, it has been officially requested that Class Notes be kept to the bare minimum. This is indeed a fortunate circumstance, since the old shoebox is now empty, and unless the good S. Claus comes through with some really fruity items, things are going to be tough all over. Perhaps by the time the December deadline for the January issue comes up, some kind soul will have finished grist for the mill; otherwise we'll just print "compliments of a friend" and let it go at that. Have a good season of cheer and drop a line sometime.
