The Big Green squash team, under Coach Red Hoehn, has engaged in one dual match and the National Intercollegiates since the last report. On February 20 the Indians lost to Army by a 6-3 score. Bud Addis, playing No. 1 for Dartmouth, Stew Stearns, No. 3, and Jed Isaacs, No. 7, were the only Dartmouth victors against a strong Army team.
On March 5-6-7, the National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Championships were held on the Dartmouth courts with some fifty players from 17 colleges competing. Dartmouth entries were Bud Addis, Jed Isaacs, Fred Darche and Stew Stearns. Addis was seeded second in the tourney behind Roger Campbell of Princeton. Isaacs and Darche lost their first matches, and Stew Stearns got through to the third round before he was stopped by Tomes of Harvard, who was seeded fifth. Bud Addis, playing some of the finest squash of his career, survived to the semi-finals, only to lose to John Brownell of Williams who met Campbell of Princeton for the championship. Roger Campbell won the title as was expected.
At the same time Red Hoehn was elected president of the National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Association, after having served as secretary-treasurer of that organization. Next year the championships will be held at the Naval Academy.
