My word! You mean to say that it's fall again? Seems like I've just managed to get my callouses in shape for lawn work and it's time to quit. Have to give up those earthy pleasures - but not very reluctantly.

Summer always means weddings and engagements so let's call the roll on that; BobWelch married Miss Susanne Mae Dengler in Saginaw, Mich., on June 18. Saul Kwartin and Miss Ruth L. Miller were wed on July 31 in Stamford, Conn. Ruth was graduated from Skidmore in June. Saul is with the law firm of Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin and Kuriansky of Stamford. Following a wedding trip to Canada, they settled down at 63 Riverside Ave. Dick Repko, the Ceylon Flash, and Miss Arlene Marianne Dugan of Rochester, N. Y., were married in that fair city on August 6. It appears that the bachelor quarters of Schaefer and Hatheway, directly opposite the Dartmouth Club of New York, are about to see some moving, as John's engagement to Miss Patricia Mary Flaherty of Mamaroneck, N. Y., was announced in June. She is a graduate of Pembroke. A fall wedding is planned.

Also in June came the announcement of the engagement of John Parker and Miss Nancy S. Jewett of Manchester, Conn. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1952. An autumn wedding is in the offing. Also planning to wed in the fall are Lee Gold and Miss Phradie Ruth Kling of Teaneck, N. J. She graduated from Cornell. Lee is president of Town House Fabrics Corp., New York. The Fifth of July was the day John A. Van Raalte Jr. picked to make the Van Raalte family a threesome. By now the routine should have set in at 105 East 63rd St., N.Y.C.

The duo of Foster if Liscord have scored again. This time they licked the examinations for membership as Fellows of the Casualty Actuarial Society. This group, it appears, is very élite as it consists of only 304 actuaries, statisticians and executives of the principal casualty insurance companies in the U.S. and Canada. Bob and Paul are with Travellers Insurance Co. in Hartford. So if your insurance rates go up - don't blame the hurricanes - get after those two.

Laurence F. Whittemore, an honorary degree recipient in 1948, was elected chairman of the board of Brown Company of Berlin, N. H., a new position under a proposed new by-law which "shall be responsible for the formulation of long-range policies and planning of the company and shall represent the authority of the board of directors between meetings." Mr. Whittemore has been chairman of the board under the old by-laws since October 20, 1952.

Len Sullivan received an M.B.A. degree from Harvard in June. Whit Washburn received a Ph.D. from the same institution. Jim Nichol was awarded an LL.B. from St. John's University School of Law. The Dave Pearsons stayed overnight at the Inn on July 24. DickLandon was there for three days in early August.

Promoted to the position of assistant supervising engineer of the applied electronics section of the research and engineering division, Arthur J. Hendler '48 joined the Airborne Instruments Laboratory staff in 1949.
