In June 1946 President Dickey accepted the 1921 Memorial Fund from J. Lee Bausher, the first of ten such gifts totaling over $900,000 during his administration.

After receiving an honorary LL.D. from Middlebury in 1946, Mr. Dickey posed with William R. Brewster '18 and Rev. Earle H. Ballon. He also holds honorary degrees from Tufts, Brown, Amherst, Wesleyan, New Hampshire and Columbia.
