Early November here in Rhode Island, and the weather report threatens snow flurries tonight. Makes me think that the Yuletide season isn't far away, and since this is the last time you'll read my drivel before the holidays, may I take this occasion to wish you and your families the best ever.

Christmas arrived two months and seven days early at the Zeiser establishment, as Christopher Laurence was born on the 18th of October, and his father is still in the clouds. I plan to drive to Hanover over the holiday vacation with some local prospects for admission, so if the Hanover storekeepers are reading this let them be forewarned that Chris will need (and receive) one of everything with a Green "D" on it, regardless of size.

While I'm on the baby-announcement trail, let me offer two other tidbits, and I suspect both families are equally delirious with their results On August 28, Jack and Peggy Kilmartin here in Providence welcomed their third child and second son, Paul Francis. And on October 10, Brud and Jane Becker welcomed their second child, and first daughter, Jill. The Beckers are residents of Berea, Ohio.

The step closely preceding parenthood is marriage, and I can report the stepping off the cliff of two stalwarts. Bill Mackey of Detroit married Miss Alexandra Sewall of Bath, Maine, on September 17. Bill is associated with the Mackey Lumber Co. of Detroit. Three of Bill's ushers are '49ers - Dana Jackson of Mattituck, N. Y., Jim Krentler of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sam Kilner of Plymouth Union, Vt. The other wedding is that of John Stearns of Wilton, Conn., to Miss Winifred Clarke Anthony of Palm Beach, Fla., coming up on November 26.

Engagements of the month.... Bob Alden of New York is engaged to Miss Persis Caroline Fuller of Pittsfield, Mass., with a January wedding scheduled.... Paul Erwin of Merion, Pa., is engaged to Miss Catherine H. Larner of Chester, Pa. Paul is a Philly attorney.... Jack Ransom of Buffalo is engaged to Miss Sarah Ruth Youngmann also of Buffalo.... Dick Mallary of Bradford, Vt., is engaged to Miss Mary Harper Coxe of Wilton, Conn. The wedding is planned for December. Dick is a Holstein breeder and dairy farmer, and, indeed, is President of the Vermont Holstein Association.

Recent Hanover Inn guests were Mr. andMrs. Irl Marshall of Northbrook, Ill., and Peter Gish of Westport, Conn., both on September 30.

The attendance at the Brown game here on October 8 was fine, considering what a miserable day it was. After the very poor results were in we tried to wash them down with seabreezes here at our house and were joined by the following: John and Joan Sweetland, John and Nancy Stockwell, Jack and Peggy Kilmartin, Bert and Sue Rodman, Jack and Eileen Borys, King Ball, Ritchie Hunt, Al Wagner, Dick Raybold, Bob and Donna Muenzberg, Clarke Church, Bob Alden, and Spud Parsons. We had a fine party, and I was glad to welcome them and, in some cases, their guests. Others I saw at the game who didn't make it (for one reason or another) here afterwards were Harvey Nolan, Bob Magown, Bob Swift, and Spike Smith.

Figuring the Green couldn't look that bad again, I ventured a trip to New Haven last weekend, and even though the score was more severe, we looked 100% better, as we had on TV the week before against the Crimson. Wasn't that telecast an impressive sight? At the Yale game I ran into Bill Yates, Bob andJean Parsons, and Bill Davis. I'm sure more of you were there, but we got last-minute seats on the goal line, so I wasn't near the proper area. Incidentally, as you'll undoubtedly lead elsewhere in this issue, the Frosh have a magnificent team, and looked it against the powerful Yale Frosh (14-7 Dartmouth), so we can look to sunnier days ahead. They say in Hanover that the Class of 1959 is the strongest class ever entered.

Two miscellaneous items and then I'll close, as I've been asked to keep this issue short. John Hodgens of Boston has been appointed general sales manager of Admiral Distributors - Boston Division... .Nathan Gottschalk has received a fellowship in memory of Albert Spaulding, violinist and composer. Nathan is an assistant professor of violin at Oberlin College in Ohio. He received his degree of Master of Music from Yale.
