First order of business is to congratulate Butts Lamson for his first "brainchild," the Class Letter. I received my copy today and I'm sure we all want to reassure Butts that the knee-knocking he professed as he put the first Letter into the mails was quite unnecessary. You know a lot of work goes into such a project; he has had lifts from a few - too few of those many he wrote to. We all owe him our thanks, at least, and I hope several of you will write him. (Samuel A. Lamson, 99 Chauncy St., Boston 11, Mass.) Let him know your reaction to Cleve's idea of a directory, or anything else. But pass the orchids to one who rates them.
One more comment on the Ted Lamb case: see Time for November 29, 1954, for a summary and some strong words which may be received variously by various readers.
As I write, exams are completely forgotten for Carnival, and now the second semester starts. Robin Robinson has done his bi-annual chore of seeing that the examination schedule runs off smoothly. We had a frigid January, and one day of examinations started at 20° below and gradually warmed up to zero. The gym was good and warm, and most days warmed up nicely with a good sun. No snow to cover the bare icy and crusty snow. The usual thaw didn't come until the very end of Carnival weekend.
New birthday cards are rolling off KenFoley's press. I have adapted last year's card in a way I hope you will approve. Several have written me, after receiving my greeting on behalf of the Class, but wish I might hear from many more. Some addresses need revising; for some, we have only a business address. When we have the sad task of writing obituaries we find our data often incomplete (children's names, re-marriages, deaths, etc.), which is unfortunate for the family concerned and the class.

I have some of the sons in class now; others past semesters, and probably some to come. Phil Van Huyck will be in touch with you fathers with some details. We hope for a good turnout.
Solly Thurston is the new president of Fabet Corp., one of Gloucester's (Mass.) foremost fish-filleting concerns. He is boss of sales Looking back, we recall him as a graduate of Gloucester High School, short-stop on the baseball team, Green Key, and Chi Phi fraternity. After college, he taught and coached first at Melrose and then at Highland Park, Ill., where he advanced up the ranks. He worked summers on the Gloucester fish piers to add to his income. Evidently the salt-water air was deep in him for he returned to the fish business and moved from two other firms before his present connection.
