Thanks to an article in the Louisville Courier-Journal, we have gotten full information on Bill Kendall, recently appointed assistant to the president of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Bill was formerly general manager of the Clinchfield Railroad, a freight line operating between Elkhorn City, Ky., and Spartanburg, S. C., and owned jointly by the Atlantic Coast Line and the L & N. In a press interview, Bill affirmed his faith in the future of railroading and the challenge it offers to the younger generation. "This is a diversified industry offering a challenge for many talents - engineering, accounting, sales, traffic and electronics," he said. While the Kendalls have not chosen their Louisville home at this writing, their daughter, Roberta Ann, will enter the U. of Louisville in the fall.

Milton Alpert, recently appointed Assistant Attorney General of the State of New York, was formerly in the Republican State Administration under Gov. Dewey. He was a Deputy State Controller, unpaid director of the State Social Security Agency, executive secretary of the State Defense Council, advisory member of the joint Legislative Committee on Interstate Cooperation and a member of the drafting committee of the Council of State Governments. Milt lives with his wife and two children at 7 Harvard Ave., Albany.

Rod Hatcher wrote from London stating that he and wife Kate will be back to live in New York sometime during February. Rod is with the National City Bank of New York and has been sub-manager of the London Branch for almost eight years. Welcome home, Rod!

Since January 1954, the Rev. Shirley E.Greene has been Director of Inter-Group Relations on the staff of the National Farmers Union. This organization is non-partisan and non-sectarian and comprises working farm families joined together to carry on programs of education, cooperatives and legislation. Shirley's work includes the development of liaison with labor, religious, educational and civic groups in the interest of common understanding and cooperative effort in behalf of liberal policies affecting agriculture. Shirley came to the National Farmers Union from a background of long study of farm problems and rural life. For seven years he was Agricultural Secretary of the Council for Social Action of the Congregational Churches. Prior to 1946 he pioneered the development of a regional rural church institute at Merom, Ind., where he served as director of Merom Institute. In both these positions he rendered outstanding service to his denomination and to the town and country church in the little explored field of agricultural ethics. Shirley is the author of the forthcoming book entitled The Education of Migrant Children, reporting an eighteen-month study of the subject. He has also produced numerous pamphlets and articles on this and allied subjects. A fine achievement in a little known and unpublicized field of endeavor. Congratulations to you, Shirley!

Bob Fendrick, assistant vice president of the Howard Savings Institution in Newark, N. J., has been named to the Committee on Savings Management and Operations and the Subcommittee on Electronics of the American Bankers Association. He lives at Packanack Lake with his wife and four daughters and is active in community affairs.

One of the few class bachelors, Jack Weisenfluh, owns and operates the J. & J. Products Co., manufacturers of insecticides, furniture polishes, disinfectants etc. in Hollis, Long Island. He lives at 102-36 86th Ave. in Richmond Hill, N. Y.

On Friday, February 11, a hardy group of twenty braved the elements to attend a class dinner with wives at the Dartmouth Club in New York. Present were Gina and Bo Wentworth, Peg and Art Mayes, Margaret and George Collins, Elise and Jim Whiton, Pauline and Butch Modarelli, Betty and Dick Hazen, Margaret and Ed Marks with stags Art Allen, Max Wolff, Bob Harrison, Jack Weisenfluh and Jerry Altman, sporting a terrific tan. Jerry had just returned from a vacation in Mexico and looked like a native. It was unfortunate that the weather was so bad - walking and driving were almost impossible - and this, coupled with colds and viruses, kept many of the "regulars" away. We hope for a record turnout in May - no snow or sleet in New York then.

From your Secretary: - many thanks to those of you who sent your cards back so promptly — 54 in the first two days. If you have not returned yours, please do so at once so we can bring our records up to date.
