A meeting of the class executive committee I was held at the Dartmouth Club of New York on October 29, the night before the Yale football game. Class officers present at the meetwere John Sheldon, president; John Wright, secretary; John Wolff Jr., treasurer; liay Bartlett, Memorial Fund chairman; and Ben Drew, class agent. Members and past members of the committee present were: ]ot Byram, Marv Chandler, Charlie Doerr, Howard Elliott, Dick Hazen, Morry Hubbard, In IKramer, Ed Marks, Warren Moore, Bill Morton, Jim North, Bo Wentworth and JohnZimmerman. Our prexy reports on the meeting as follows:
"Following dinner we heard reports from each of the class officers.
"John Wolff reported that the ALUMNI MAGAZINE was sent to each member of the class and that it is the largest single expense the class has to bear. Funds are raised to pay for the MAGAZINE through annual class dues. Unfortunately only 256 graduates out of 430 paid their dues last year and this is creating a small drain on the class treasury. After considerable discussion it was agreed that some method should be devised to make each member of the class realize that he should bear his share of class expenses. It was fell that some members of the class do not realize that by non-payment of dues they are throwing an unfair burden on those who do pa; their dues.
"Ray Bartlett then gave a report on the progress so far on the class Memorial Fund drive. Ray has not yet completed his organization for this drive and asked that each per son present send him a list of possible workers We have a big job ahead in order to raise $100,000 by June of 1957- Up to June 30, our class has given only $13,613 to this fik portant of all class efforts. Ray told us of to plans for another mailing piece in the near future and his hopes for a greater response this year than he received last year. He urge that everyone present start making plaans once for the largest gift for 1957 that us will ever be asked to make to the College
"Ben DreW to down from Boston to at tend this meeting and to make his report to us as class agent. He expressed his disappoint ment over the results of his first campaign. but expressed a willingness to continue on the job for another year because of his certanty that a much better job could be done in 1955
"John Wright regretfully his reignation as class secretary. John recently be came president of the Curtis Lighting, Inc., and that position, plus his attempting to con tinue law practice, has made it impossible for him to continue in this important class posi tion. The executive committee accepted John's resignation with regret, and a resolu tion was passed extending the appreciation of the class to John for the excellen work that he has done during the past two years as class secretary. Al Zinggeler was then elected class secretary, subject, of course, to his ac ceptance of the position.
"Before the meeting adjourned, there was general agreement that the executive committee should meet on an annual basis on the Friday before the Yale game. Next'year, as an addition to the executive committee mèting we would like to hold a meeting to which all members of the class will be be invited. Adequate advance notice will be given of the meeting in this column."
" We, "in Chicago, were glad to learn that Marvin Chandler is moving to this area. The newspaper article carrying the announcement read as follows:
"Chandler New Northern Ill. Gas President - Directors of Northern Illinois Gas Company, a subsidiary of Commonwealth Edison Company, yesterday announced the election of Marvin Chandler dler as president to succeed H. P. Sedwick, who was named vice chairman. Chandler, 44, has been a vice president of Reis & Chandler, Inc., New York City public utility consultant firm."
Heartiest congratulations to you, Marv, on tins excellent appointment.
A welcome letter from Don MacPhail, in Paris, reveals the following interesting information:
"I was married this August to Miss Joan Magee of London, in the Church of St. Bartholomew the Great London. Mr. Rodney Neville Hatcher, of your own class, served capably and imaginatively as best man, despite less than three hours' advance notice. Said time, however, was sufficient for him to obtain a boutonniere for himself and a bottle of Scotch for the bride and groom.
"We are all living in Paris, where I have been director of the Productivity and Technical Assistance Division of USRO for the past year. The children are back in school (French and American) after a summer spent at Cape Cod.
"Had a quick lunch with Jack Carlton in Boston early in July. At that time he was commuting between the city and Dennis, but seemed to be-bearing up nobly under the strain."
Bowie Sargeant was recently elected president of the American Committee for Liberation From Bolshevism, Inc. As you all know, he was formerly Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. The excerpt from the newspaper article announcing his election to the presidency of this committee stated:
"Mr. Sargeant, who has been a consultant for the Ford Foundation, said the committee 'will continue to support projects intended to lessen Soviet influence and to increase the spirit of resistance of the peoples behind the Iron Curtain in the Soviet Union.' "
Announcement has been made of the election of John Zimmerman to the offices of vice president and director of General Motors Acceptance Corp. John joined General Motors Corp. in 1934, and has been associated with their financial staff in New York.
A news item from Camp Carson, Colo., states that Col. Milan H. Hulbert of the Army reserves attended a training session at that camp in August. Milan is president of the Davis Typewriter Company in Colorado Springs.
I recently received an interesting note from frank Eggleston, who is manager of the Civic Planning and Traffic Board of the Providence Chamber of Commerce. He stated:
Last summer it was my privilege to attend the Northeastern Institute at Yale. The Institute is run or Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association executives. It was my pleasure at this Institute to eet our classmate Whit Daniels, who is now Dictor of Public Relations for the Associated Industries of New York State, Inc., with offices at 1 Elk at., Albany, N. Y"

President of the Massachuseţts Association of Training Directors for the comning year is Robert W. McConnochie Jr. Bob is a member of the training deppartment of Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates, in Boston.
Recently Frederick J. Orner was promoted from manager of freight car utilization to general manager of the New Haven division of the N. Y., N. H. and H. Railroad Company, according to an announcement made by the president of that railroad.
A cross-country move has been made by BillHuse, who has joined Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample, in New York City, as vice president. Bill had been with Albers Milling Co., in California, for several years before he accepted his new position.
X regret that my business activities have made it necessary for me to resign as your secretary. I wish to express appreciation to the members of the class for their assistance in supplying news. I urge all of you to give similar support to your new secretary.
