Once again this spring the top team at Dartmouth is Tom Keane's varsity golf squad captained by Al Anderson. The golfers have won 11 dual matches and lost only four, but could only place eighth in the Eastern Intercollegiate Tournament held at Yale. Captain Al Anderson, Don Purple, Frank Barteaux and Pete Diemond were the four low men for Dartmouth with a 647 total. Match points were totaled on the basis of the four best scores out of six, 36-hole rounds.

Dartmouth, which placed second in the tourney last year, was handicapped to some extent by the tough Yale course which combines a number of blind holes with extremely fast greens.

Coach Tom Keane, however, feels that his team has been doing well, even though he admits it is. far below the caliber of his 1954 squad.

Previous to the Easterns, and since the last report, Dartmouth chalked up 7-2 wins over Lowell Textile and Boston University, a 9-0 win over Babson, and a 5-2 victory over Holy Cross. Dartmouth losses came by identical 4-3 scores at the hands of Amherst and Middlebury and a 6-1 drubbing by a strong Harvard team.

Massachusetts, Vermont and Siena remain on the slate for the golfers, who are expected to win all three for another banner year.
