After an early December win over five members of the Dartmouth varsity squash team competed during the Christmas holidays in the New York University Club's invitational tournament. Dartmouth's Dick Hoehn confirmed his ranking as the top-seeded collegiate player by defeating Princeton's sophomore star, Steve Venslage, 11-15, 15-8, 15-11, and 16-15, in the final round of play to win the tournament for the second straight year. The other Big Green entries — Jack McDonough, Marty Zipser, Don Bartlett, Dave Lowry and Dick Skolnik - did not fare so well and were all stopped in either the first or second round of play.

In early January the team was scheduled to travel to Montreal to play McGill, but a blizzard stopped two of the three cars. Captain Hoehn along with seventh-ranked Phil Langley, Sam French, ranked eighth, and Opie Jones, rated ninth, did get through and played an informal match with everyone winning except French.

In the most recent match against Penn, the Indians had an easy time shutting out the Quakers 9-0. All players won easily except for John Horan, playing second, who had to go five games before downing Carl Huggins.
