Nineteen candidates for admission to the College from schools in this area have been accepted. This is the largest representation from this vicinity we have ever had. Principal credit is due Bob Turner '33 for his unceasing recruiting activities. Other members of the club, including Frank Cornwell '35, Charles Cotsworth '34, Tom Curtis '32, Buster May '36 and Hugh Logan '34, assisted materially by making their homes available for conferences and discussions with small groups of candidates. According to Turner, these small-group meetings have been extremely helpful to the cause.

Frank Cornwell was recently named alumni councilman for the Southwestern States District to succeed Howie Mullin '27, who recently was transferred to the New York office of U. S. Steel Corporation. Incidentally, Howie's son Bill Mullin, who graduates this year from Webster Groves High School with distinguished scholastic honors, was one of the successful candidates for admission to next year's freshman class at Dartmouth.

The annual meeting of the Club was held at the home of Bill Rench '34 on May 10. The officers for the ensuing year are Ed Spiegel '42, president (for a second term); Doug LeResche '43, vice president; Bruce Symonds '45, secretary; and Fran Worcester '38, treasurer. We" were glad to see two newcomers to this vicinity at the meeting, BillTrier '44 and Bill Taylor '50. Taylor is with the Container Corporation of America. He comes originally from Buffalo, N. Y., and spent some time recently in Chicago. Trier is a surgeon in the regular Navy. He is taking training in plastic surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

The Club's committee on job placement obtained summer positions for many of the undergraduates and entering freshmen. JackMerrill '30 was largely instrumental in this work, and positions were obtained at St. Louis Shipbuilding Co., Famous-Barr, Ralston Purina, Cargill Inc., and Borden Co.

On June 21, the Club entertained the undergraduates and entering freshmen at the home of Earl Poe '42 on Mason Road. Activities included softball, horseshoes, and swimming. It was a very successful occasion. Present from the class of 1959 were Jim Burke, Paul Stein, Herbert Finch Jr. and Doug Wheeler. There were nine entering freshmen and about twenty alumni. Jack Merrill did an especially fine job in cooking steaks. As usual, the Club is very grateful for the Poes' hospitality.
