You who weren't present at the informal reunion in mid-March missed a thoroughly good time. And don't let it be said that those who did attend aren't made of stern and hardy stuff. Most of us went over the roads in one of the most severe snow storms of recent time. Although the trip was a nightmare, it was soon forgotten when once inside the Inn. Besides our individual rooms, we had one of the suites for gathering purposes. We congregated there after dinner Friday evening and it was pretty late when the last one left, a fact to which I can attest. Saturday morning we went our various ways from breakfast, with most of the men returning to the suite at eleven for a discussion of Alumni Fund affairs with Jack Dodd. Shortly thereafter we were joined by the ladies for cocktails before lunch. That afternoon those who weren't making up sleep lost the night before went to the gymnasium for the varsity and freshman track meets with Columbia. Thanks to an idea conceived by Carroll Dwight and arrangements made by him, we had a delicious steak dinner served in the suite as our Saturday evening meal.

Present for the dinner and the cocktail party that preceded it were Bob and Grace Clark, Haskell and Harriett Cohn, Jack and Fran Dodd, Carroll and Nan Dwight, Frank and Betty Horan, Carter and Alie Hoyt, Johnny Johnson, Steve Kenyon, Fran and Lucy Leland, Bill and Betty Mann, Stan and Catherine Miner, Tommy Byrne, Olie and Elspeth Olsen, Len and Margaret Morrissey, Herb and Karen West, Bill and Odie Lee Bullen. Also with us were these sons and daughters of 1922 - Alexander Clark '55 with a special young lady, Nancy Hoyt with a classmate from Colby Junior College, Gordon Lenci '56, Peter Townsend '54, Len Morrissey '48T and wife, Charlie Morrissey '56. Most of us went from the dinner to Webster Hall for a Variety Show consisting for the most part of undergraduate talent, and it was very good. Then we congregated again in the suite for night caps. Departures were made at various times throughout the morning and early afternoon of Sunday. For those who like to know about these things well in advance, this is to advise that the Inn has set aside a block of rooms for the 1957 informal reunion which will be held the weekend of March 15-17. At least two couples already have made their reservations.

A conflicting commitment prevented Rexand Helen Malmquisi, from joining us in March. For that same weekend, Rex braved the blizzard to attend the sophomores' fathers' gathering at Vassar College where daughter Elin is a member of the Class of '58. As much as we missed them and as pleasant a time as they would have had in Hanover, it must be admitted that Rex put first things first. There is nothing more rewarding than to attend such an affair with a daughter or son.

Also missing were Spenny and Marje Smith and Bill and Jean Rex. They were snowed in at their respective homes. Bob and Lois Booth had planned to join us but they were stranded in Boston for two days and returned to Manchester too late on Saturday to continue to Hanover.

From Rome, Gene Hotchkiss sent a card to advise he and Nettie were there after a stay in Estoril, Portugal. Their next stop was to be Florence. Gene wrote that they would return May 1 and would be in Hanover for the reunion in June.

At the Alumni Fund dinner in Boston on March 28, our class was represented by LenMorrissey, Ray Atwood, Ed McNamara, BillGallagher and your scribe. Len had with him a list of those who had sent affirmative responses to his first mailing piece on Reunion. It is a surprisingly long list for this stage of the game and we are very happy about it, but will not be content until many more are added to it.

Here are things to do if you haven't done them. Answer Steve Kenyon's questionnaire. Send a generous contribution to the Alumni Fund. Return the reply card to Len Morrissey - with an affirmative response, we hope.
