On March 10, the Chicago Daily Tribune ran a full sketch on the life of Marv Chandler, President of the Northern Illinois Gas Co., in its column, "The Road to Success." I he article traced Marv's life from his birth in Boston, his childhood in Brookline through his education at Exeter, Dartmouth and Harvard Business School. It traced his business career starling as a security analyst with Charles D. Barney & Co. in New York City to his association with Barrett Associates, an investment counsel service where he remained until 1942. At that time Marv joined the Cayuga Construction Co., in charge of their New York office. This company had contracts to build several large war plants. At the end of the war, Marv and his old friend and business associate Sanford Reis set up the firm of Reis & Chandler, investment advisers and financial consultants specializing in utilities. This firm was founded on a capital of $300, but soon prospered and became recognized authorities on rate matters. Among others, they were retained by Commonwealth Edison Co. as consultants and frequently testified in rate cases. Through his connection with officials at Con Edison, Marv was asked to head the newly formed independent, Northern Illinois Gas Co. This company was formed from gas utility units formerly controlled by Con Edison and serves some 10,000 square miles in Northern Illinois. It has 525,000 customers and 113,000 applicants for gas heating. The 2,700 employees work for the company's 130,000 stockholders. Marv, his wife, and two sons live in Glen Ellyn, a Chicago suburb. A fine record, Marv, - continued good luck!

Bob McConnochie, training supervisor of the Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates of Boston, recently conducted an eight-week training program in work simplification for the Attleboro (Mass.) Foreman's Club. Bob has been engaged in developing and conducting training programs in industry for the past fifteen years, in human relations, work simplification, effective speaking, customer relations, personnel policies and procedures, and conference leading. Prior to his present connection, Bob handled supervisory training with Republic Aviation, was director of training for Eastern Air Lines and office manager and instructor for the Dale Carnegie Institute, all in New York City. Bob lives with his wife and daughter in Needham.

In some recent shifts in the sales division of the Parker Pen Company, Graham C. Butler was named to head the Southwestern Division. Graham has been with the Parker Pen Company for the past eighteen years and has held various staff assignments in the domestic sales division. In 1953, he was named assistant southern division manager. In his new post, Graham will continue to live in Janesville, Wise., where he was born.

Howie Braillard was recently a candidate for the Canton (Mass.) School Committee, though at this writing we have no idea as to how he made out. I am hinting for a letter to enlighten us, although not too subtle)! Howie has been connected with the Shell Oil Company for the past 23 years. His work has to do with the acquisition and management of real estate and the construction and management of buildings. Both he and his wife have been active in community activities for many years, and live at 48 Spring Lane in Canton.

Attorney Milt Wheeler has been nominated judge of Portland's Municipal Court by Governor Muskie of Maine, though we do not know whether his appointment lias been approved by the Executive Council. Very little is known as to Milt's business or family life, as we have not heard from him for years. Would like to have a letter, Milt, giving us some information on you and your family and on your nomination to the judgeship.
