We have several interesting odds and ends to dish up for your reading pleasure this month. Had a fine letter from Ray Theriault (because George has been and is so busy that he has lost 24 pounds) enclosing a clipping from The Ski Bulletin - official organ of the USE ASA - complete with picture showing Hon. Robert Doscher, Justice of the Supreme Court, State of New York, approving the certificate of incorporation for the Ramapo Mountain Ski Club, Inc., Nanuet, N.Y. Ray also said that she and George had dinner at the Mecks with Jim McFarland who was in Hanover recruiting for General Mills. Thanks, Ray. We heartily approve of letters from the distaff side where our classmate is too busy or too confused to give us the dope. We recommend the practice to all you ladies.

Another letter from Bob Grow written under the letterhead of Grow-Sumner-Englebert Agencies (Insurance-Land-Sea-Air) and stating that he and Bob Sumner entered into partnership on January 1, 1955, in the insurance business at 630 Dime Building, Detroit 26, with Bob Grow's brother and a friend, both of whom attended Michigan State University at East Lansing. Bob says that he also lives in Grosse Pointe (154 Touraine Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, 36), that the firm will take business any place in the country and will even compete with Bob Critchell in Chicago. We were happy to have this information, Bob, and the mention of East Lansing reminded us that we received an interesting telephone call from Bill King (William L. from Calumet) who works lor the Michigan Public Service Commission in Lansing and lives in East Lansing. Bill had nothing on his mind but to say howdy after all these years since graduation. We were very pleased to hear Bill's voice and beg to state that we are receptive to such telephone calls whenever any of you would like to pass the time of day and pass on some information.

Harry V. Osborne Jr. is staying loyal and has moved to 5 Dartmouth Road in Cranford, N.J.

A recent Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch carried an interesting account of a research project being carried out under Prof. Richard P.Goldthwait of the Geology Department of Ohio State University for the Snow, Ice and Permafrost Establishment of the Army Engineers. The project began last June when instruments were set into the margin of the Greenland glacier and into a tunnel dug under the glacier to measure the ice motion and to observe the accumulation and disappearance of the glacial ice. Dick and his fellow scientists are at a remote glacier camp forty miles north of Thule, Greenland, some 700 miles within the Arctic Circle. Night temperatures often reach 40° below zero and winds up to ninety miles an hour have been recorded. Dick says it is considered a warm day when the temperature climbs to zero. Anybody hot under the collar? Just join Dick on the Ice Cap!

The public prints show that George Rideout is still doing the after-dinner-speech circuit and that Whit Kimball has left the Manchester Electric Company to become a representative of the Spencer Press. In his new position, Whit, who has an excellent background in education, will visit schools and libraries throughout Massachusetts.

A quick word about the Alumni Fund. In 1955 our Class arrived at 78% of our fund quota. We were one of just eighteen classes which failed to reach their dollar objectives, and of these, only four classes were below the 80% mark. This is select company with a reverse twist. There are a lot of us who feel that 19.33 squats at the wrong end of the scale. The only way we can traverse to the other end is by each one of us doing the job for Dartmouth and the Class which he knows should be done. Remember, each of us should say to himself, not "I wish I could afford to give the Alumni Fund what I would like to," but rather, "Am I actually willing to give what I can afford?"
