Things have been going too well of late, and now we must report a very bad month for the class. On January 16 Bill Hurley died in New London, N.H.; and on February 1 Dusty Rohde and Junie Merriam both passed on. We also learned this month that A1 Hyde had died over two years ago, on January 1, 1995. To make matters considerably worse, we heard from two sons of the late Jim Brigden that their mother, Margaret Campbell Brigden, had died unexpectedly on January 15 while recovering from surgery.

On the other hand, the news from BillBachman in Palm Beach, Fla., indicates he has taken up the computer as his bridge to the next century, and can be reached at . He says his golf is lousy, and that he and Lois have signed up for the Dartmouth Legendary Passage on the Rhine this coming June 13.

Another golfer, Jock Lynch, who also plays tennis, reports that he still works daily at his law office in Greenwich, Conn.

Jim Corner has been keeping tabs on Gene Weeks as he recovered from bypass surgery plus a heart valve replacement performed late last year.

In a routine physical last July BuzzWaters discovered he had lung cancer. He has submitted to nine weeks of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation in which he lost 20 pounds and his hair. Now in Tequesta, Fla., he is playing golf and tennis, has gained back his weight, and grown a curly head of hair which he hopes will straighten out in time. Bob and ShirleyHowe dropped by for a chat with the Waters from their digs in Jacksonville. Dotty Conkle is closing up the Carolina Mountain Shop which she and her late husband, Hank, operated for a lifetime in Cashiers, N.C.

From Dartmouth Medicine and NedBayrd's class column, we note that one of our most dependable West Coast correspondents, Dick Storrs, has been ill with Parkinson's disease. Finally, let it be known that Wednesday, May 28, is the date set for the spring executive committee meeting at the Yale Club in New York City.
