June 1956

A progress report issued from Alumni Fund headquarters on May 23 showed a dollar total of $474,177, an increase of $56,716 over the total on the same date last year, and a participation figure of 10,278 contributors, or 278 more than last year. The average gift stood at $46.14, an increase of $4.39 over the comparable 1955 figure.

Fund Chairman William G. Morton '28, convinced that "this will be Dartmouth's greatest year," is now challenging his Fund workers and all alumni to an unprecedented participation mark - 75% of all alumni as contributors.

The Green Derby leaders on May 23 were these seven Class Agents: Edward B. Redman '06, James D. Gregg '14, Donald F. Sawyer '21, John W. Moxon '29, Hugh W. Schwarz '40, Richard W. Lippman '42, and John W. Corcoran '53. The Class of 1924 had the highest dollar total on that date, and five classes already past their dollar objectives were 1898, 1901, 1903, 1904 and 1914.
