The Rev. Edward H. MacBurney '49, shown above with students in front of Edgerton House, the Episcopal student center, will become Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover on September 1. He succeeds the Rev. Leslie W. Hodder, retiring rector, whose assistant he has been since 1953.
Father MacBurney, after graduating from Dartmouth, received a S.T.B. degree from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven in 1952. He spent the next year at St. Stephen's House in Oxford, England, and was ordained to the priesthood at Ely Cathedral, England, by the Bishop of Ely. In July 1953 he returned to Hanover to assist with student work at St. Thomas Church and was named Associate Rector in 1957. He has been chairman of the Diocesan College Work Commission.
Father Hodder upon retirement will live in Norwich, Vt. He has been with St. Thomas Church since 1936 and has been Rector since 1939.
