Fifteen Tenners sent back the post cards to Bones Jones saying, "Yes, I'll be there," and twelve made good on the promise. So we had a much better representation at the University Club the "night before" the Harvard game. The three who could not make it, were Howard Bushway and Roge Pierce, pinned down with the "bug" and Bert Kent, detained in Holyoke by the death of a close "end. Those who made it: Art Allen, Nort Cushman, Charlie Fay, Al Ferguson, Ted "1, Bones Jones, Art Lord, Russ Meredith, Ralph Paine, Beezle Parker, Jack Shambow and Herb Woods.

It is not possible to name all who were at the game, Saturday afternoon, but from information obtained through various chan- nels, we feel safe in stating that besides those at the "night before" dinner these Tenners saw with unbounded satisfaction, one of Dartmouth's best teams score an easy victory over Harvard: Larry Bankart, Maurice Blake, Ed Loring, Jim MacPherson, Walt Norton, Earle Pierce and John VanderPyl. All of which indicates that there is life in the old gang yet and we do like to "follow the team."

Charlie and Marie Fay opened their home to the dinner group and entertained with a genuine Dartmouth party Friday afternoon. Charlie tried to get in touch with every man who said on the post card that he was planning to be at the dinner. Eight Tenners were on hand for this preliminary. One who could not get to the dinner but met with us at Charlie's, is Harry Sandberg. We haven't seen Harry in some time and we were pleased to find that he is the same old boy, in manner of acting and talking, but the years have "built him up" physically! It was a typical Tenner party which all enjoyed. It was a most pleasing affair and we are indebted to the Fay "Ma and Pa" for this display of hospitality. Charlie says he hopes to make it an annual event and if we didn't know the way Marie feels about Dartmouth, we wouldn't be sure whether or not Charlie might be speaking out of turn or without proper consultation. But we know the Fays and we know we can count on them as aforesaid. As we have been annually, for many years, we are indebted to Bones Jones for handling the arrangements for our meeting with the other classes of our time, in this "night before" dinner at the University Club. The attendance last year dropped to such a small group that Bones began to wonder whether Tenners really wanted to continue. This year's pick-up seems to have answered the question.

Of over 200 post cards sent out with the Tenner Topics, only about one-fifth have been returned. As stated in Tenner Topics we hoped a large percentage of our group would make use of the cards regardless of planning to attend the dinner. If you are interested to read items about other Tenners bear in mind that the other men would like to read about where you are and what you are doing. Let us hear from a lot of you men who seldom if ever, tell us anything about yourselves or families.

Bert Kent says he saw George Underwood at the Holy Cross-Dartmouth game. Charlie Fay, Bones Jones and Ed Loring are three Tenners we know were in Hanover for the Brown game. Howard Bushway writes that through the untimely arrival of the "bug" he had to miss the Harvard game for the first time in 49 years. Herrick Kidder remained in the North Country late enough to take in the Convocation and the New Hampshire game. He and Evelyn hope to visit their son in Bogota late in the fall. Herrick writes, "the Convocation - a really wonderful affair superbly carried out." In answer to the request on the return post card for a "bit of news," Tom Foster made the observation, "can walk and talk up to time of writing."

"Pevy" Pevear sent this word: "Am helping my wife exhibiting at an antique show - very active." This from Henry Hutchins: "Sorry I can't make it but if the trip were possible, I'd be having 'Boston Blues' with Charlie Fay even though I was brought up an Episcopolian!" Rolin Woodworth tells us that "after trying retirement for a year, I am back at my old job as cost accountant for the Woodward Lumber Company at Brattleboro, Vt." On a recent trip to New York, your "Sec" visited with Herb Wolff for a discussion about Herb's activity in his job as Bequest Chairman for the Class. Learned from him that Whit Eastman had been in town recently and had contacted Herb and Ray Seymour. Herb was tied up but Ray and Whit made a date for lunch together.

We'll have to hold the rest of the news until next month because we have to save room for that long list of Tenner Fund donors who helped make Fund history last July.
