THE first, snow worth mentioning whitened the campus the day before Thanksgiving vacation began. And anyone who was under the illusion that the college year was meandering along had spinning car wheels and a red nose to underscore the fact that the year is really rushing along at a merry clip. Ski equipment has been in the Hanover store windows for some time, the hockey team is on ice, the basketball team is holding forth in the west wing of the gym, and by the time this Alumni Fund issue gets into some alumni hands Dartmouth undergraduates will have come back from the Thanksgiving recess and taken off again (on December 14) for Christmas vacation. At this time next year the College will be heading into the homestretch of the first term of the new three-term calendar. Maybe what now seems like a strenuous pace will be looked back upon as meandering after all.
