In a smoke-filled upper room of The Hickory Grill on April 26 the new officers of our club were duly elected at an election luncheon. Heading the slate is our new President, John B. Moore '40, one of Cleveland's leading Actuaries and husband of Kay, Cleveland's tennis champ. The First Vice President is Bob Fairbank '33, who also heads our scholarship drive committee. Al Hutton '41 doubles as Second Veep and Schools Committee Head. The Treasurer is Bob Schmitz '49 one of our town's most eager Bachelors. He is assisted by Bill Ziegler '5O. Dick Lezius '45 will have a good chance to put his creative talents to work as Assistant Secretary. The new president began making plans at once for the annual stag baseball and beer picnic in June and the Tea Dance in September, both of which events were outstanding successes under the outgoing president, Maury Cogan '28. The new group of club leaders will have to come up with some rare treats to top last year's events.

Our entire club, but especially the interviewing committee, is awaiting the first wave of acceptances to the Class of 1961. We interviewed about 75 fine boys from the northern section of Ohio and would like to see all of them go up to Hanover because of the good representation we feel they would make for us. The Schools Committee and the Interviewing Committee join forces to fete the successful applicants at a dinner at the Athletic Club and the Yankees - Indians ballgame on May 8. Speaking of being well represented on the Hanover Plain by our current undergraduates, we were all pleased and proud to learn that Bob Farmer '60 has just been elected President of the Sophomore Class. He is certainly continuing the great record he made at Lakewood High School.

A newly scheduled activity on our club's calendar of events was the Hayseed Hoedown that Ed Oberndorf '52, and Fritz Harrell '53 worked so hard to put on. It was held during Spring vacation so the undergraduates could join us in the square dancing, community singing, and foot-tapping to the hot strains from Jack Childs '09 banjo. He really can make those strings talk!
