THE COLLEGE
DECEMBER 1958

THE first term under Dartmouth's new educational program is nearing its end, and the holding of final examinations as early as December 8 to 12 will give the College another novel experience related to its three-term, three-course curriculum. After a three-week Christmas recess, the second term begins on January 4.

The College, striking out along new educational paths in its 190th year, has been enjoying a lively first term. And while the "three-three" plan, the Tucker Foundation, plant developments, and the Capital Gifts Campaign have been to the fore in Dartmouth's efforts and thinking, Bob Blackman's Big Green football team has almost stolen the show this fall with a rousing, morale-boosting season that culminated in the winning of the Ivy League championship at Princeton. All in all, this has been a "well-rounded" term.
