With the dawn of 1958 comes the year which, 50 years ago, seemed so far away as to warrant no thought. But it has caught up with us as the only 50 year reunion which we will ever have. No classmate on two legs or the equivalent will want to miss it. It is not too early to make plans now. Already the advance notices are beginning to come such as one from Jack Everett who says, "I have made a resolution to be on hand in Hanover in June but that is not news of interest, as everybody in '08 is planning the same thing." Or the one from friend Carpenter who writes from San Francisco, "Had a nice luncheon the other day with Symmes, Frothingham, Danforth, Charlie Wood, Webb Evans and Dolly Gray all of '08. They are making great plans for their 50th next June." The urge is beginning to stir. Let it bite you. The only way to become 50 years younger is to attend our fiftieth doings in Hanover come June.

In the meantime and as sort of a warmerupper comes a letter from Innkeeper Treadway from his hostelry at Vero Beach, announcing the usual Dartmouth gathering there. The dates are from March 25 to April 15 during which time Dartmouth folks are given a discount of one third from the already reasonable rates. A spacious swimming pool has been added to the adequate equipment and delightful surroundings. The meals are even better than "par excellence." Some great times have been had at these Dartmouth gatherings and another is promised for this year. Mike Stearns will act as Gentle Shepherd. Better get aboard. At our age ask yourself "What's money for anyway?" Write Larry at Royal Park Inn, Vero Beach, Fla.

The man in the news this month is Larry Symmes who is probably the only classmate who has two 50th anniversaries. This is the 50th anniversary of the founding of P. W. Brooks Co., the bond house with which Larry has been connected since its founding and of which he is now Vice President and Treasurer. Guess that's sticking to it. You may have seen the very attractive anniversary brochure which the firm has issued which is full of interest in the world of finance. It tells the story of the men who made the company and its policies. But that is only a part of the Symmes story. New York papers recently carried the story of Larry's election as President of the Board of Trustees of the Hackley School of Tarrytown, N. Y., of which board he has been a member since 1941. Hackley is the only non-sectarian preparatory school for boys in the Westchester area.

You can see that if it were not for Larry and a couple of general announcements, this would be a pretty lean issue of 'OB news. I find it difficult to scour the country in search of news and on your own account would appreciate it if, when someone thinks of something, they would write me or send their picture or something so that I would not have to substitute words for news. It is difficult to be an editor without portfolio.
